Hi everyone

Just thought I would put up some pics of my rig. This is only my second build, my last was around 5 years ago which included an 8800gts and a Q6600 GO.

Spec

Case: Coolermaster Cosmos 2

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth x79

Processor: Intel i7 3930k 2011

Cooler: Corsair H100 liquid cooling

Graphics: Nvidia Gtx 680

Ram: 16gb Corsair Vengence ddr3 1600mhz

Boot drive: 120gb Corsair force gt ssd

HDD: 2tb Seagate barracuda

Powersupply: 700w Corsair gamer series

Optical: LG dvd drive

Sound Card: Creative xfi soundblaster fatality

Peripherals

Monitor: BenQ XL2410T 120hz 3D ready

Mouse: Razer Imperator

Mousemat: Steel series QCK heavy XXL

Keyboard: Logitech G15

Headset: Sennheiser PC350

Some pics of the finished build. I need to do some tweaking to the cable management as I am not fully happy with the way it looks. The usb 2 cables have no grommet to run into so a little tidying is needed. I am thinking possibly running them behind the motherboard along with the front panel connectors for the power and reset. Also there is a sata cable that is not there anymore. It was just running like that to transfer files off my old pc's hdd to the new one. I will be putting it back into my old pc and giving it to a family member.

Overall the pc runs very quite with the fans turned down and when I turn them up it is only the H100 fans the make the loudest noise but I wont hear it over my headset so it is fine.

Temps at stock speeds are

Proc: 3.2ghz idle 25-28C and when I run prime95 I hit 55-60C.

Graphics: With the fan at its lowest setting at idle I reach 30C and when playing crysis 2 I was hitting between 60-65C with the fan at 50%

Performance: I can run Crysis, cs:go,civ 5 etc all at 1080p res and highest settings.

Frames: Cpu and gpu at stock speeds

Cs:s highest settings 800-900+

Cs:go highest settings 250-350

Civ 5: Highest settings 250+ fluctuates to 250 when it is loading the next turn but usually stays above 300

Crysis 2: Highest settings, Dx 11 add on averaging 65 fps

All in all I am well happy with it performance wise and temp wise.

I havnt gotten around to seeing how it performs in things like cad or photoshop as I am finished college for this year and I don't have the programs installed but I expect a good increase over my old pc.

Anyway that is about it for now, I will try overclocking the cpu a bit and see how I get on with that. If you have any thoughts or advice about my build please feel free to share because it will help me learn if there is anything I may have missed or could do better.

I wish i had the money for all of that lol

but its looking nice, sabertooth isnt very eye pleasing but still gets the job done

don't like it, wasted your cash on that case :/ coulda got a switch 810 and a watercooling loop for the price of that case H100 looks small in it too, just me but some people might like it

I don't know what you guys are on about I think the cosmos 2 is worth the money because is such an epic case,it's not ment to box to keep all your components in its an art peice

Well personally I love the look of the case. It quite sleek and looks of a high quality. I am not a big fan of some mesh and plastic looks of other cases as I feel they look cheap. Also with the cosmos there is lots of room and flexibility so for now I can run most stuff off air and the H100 with low temps and then in the future when I feel the need or out of boredom I may go full on water cooling and there is lots of space and options available for it.

Oh and I didn't pay full price for the case so it is a win win.

Nice rig mate.

Have a Cosmos 2 myself and a few people I know have wanted to buy one till they saw mine, then they changed there minds but some bought it because of mine.

People will say it's bad some will say it's good, personally I don't like it and wish I didn't buy it but it does the job for now.

Nice route for the cable for the side panel fan's, may have to use that route for mine.

Looks nice. I wish the x79 sabertooth looked that sexy. also, +10 points for having a rotor on your desk.

Im one of those people that like the case...

as for the fans on the door panel i will use a black braid, i have the RE4 so it's down to waiting for parts....looks a bit odd with one fan in the lower drive bays... once your happy with how it runs then good luck to you..and enjoy it...

That rotor is from my cars old engine. Did a full rebuild not too long ago so got one of the old rotors and sprayed it black as an ornament.

At the moment I am not too concerned about the look of cables but down the line I plan on doing some braiding and those will be the first to get done. The single fan in the lower bay is just for the ssd and hdd. There really isnt any need for the second there so I put it blowing air onto the graphics cards. I will probably replace all the fans at a later date as the coolermasters dont seem to blow alot of air but they are quite conversely the h100 fans blow loads of air but are loud. So I might replace them in a few months when my wallet heals with some more balanced fans.

I think looks pretty good. Needs some extensions by Bitfenix possibly? Lol Other than that. Awesome build!

Hey guys,

I have done a little overclocking and bench marking. I first tried the oc tuner for my mother board and had 4ghz but I felt that was pretty poor so tried to do it manually. I upped the multi and adjusted the voltage as per other peoples setups that I found on other forums through google. I settled for 4.6ghz at 1.336v in cpuz pic below.

I have been running this for a while now and its very stable. I did 4 hours of intel burn test and the hottest core reached 70deg but average was around 66deg's. I am happy enough with that considering when I was doing the tests I had my H100 fans set to medium speed using the cosmos 2 fan controller. The reason I only had them at this level is because that is what I will be using 24/7 as they are quite loud on full speed so I wanted a clock that would not get too hot at that fan speed. When gaming or even video rendering the temps dont come close to the intel burn test. Depending on the game it will range between 50-60 degs usually around 50 degs though.

I did a cinebench test at 4.6ghz and got the following.

Not sure if that is good or bad but from what I have seen off others it seems good.

Also I did a 3d mark 11 test the results are below.

http://3dmark.com/3d...am1s63bd018e5px

Score was P9808 I have no idea if that is good or bad but according to 3d mark it looks good but I am not sure.

Lastly tonight I just had a quick go for 5ghz and Initially it looked like it would be easy. I booted into windows at 1.39v but it crashed almost straight away so I was thinking a little more volts and I should be able to get a cinebench result.

I upped the voltage and at it would not even get to the password screen of windows for 1.40 and 1.41v. 1.42v booted but crashed while trying to validate in cpuz. 1.43 booted and validated but when I went to try a cinebench it crashed shortly into it. I don't want to go further on the voltage so I just reverted back to 4.6. Now I am fairly new to overclocking so I am sure there is room for improvement with my board and chip.

Here is the validation link for cpuz at 5ghz.

The Sabertooth boards are some of the best looking boards out there in my opinion. The motherboard and the graphics card look amazing together, the only thing is the colored ends of the PSU cables.
