Hi im totally new to this and i was wondering which setting i should lower to get my temps down?
I recently bought a new PC with a gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3 and a intel 2500 processor and also a corsair H60 (i know the h60 is crap and will change it to the NH-D14) and in stock config at 3,3 ghz and turbo to 3,7ghz my temps will go up over 90celcius when i run it in full mode. and all voltage is running in auto and the question is which voltage setting is it that i should be lowering? and what is usually a good setting for the 2500?

for clarification "full mode" is that overclocking? or is that the natural turbo?

it sounds like the cooler is improperly fitted or the tim is in dire need of replacement personally as a 2500 at stock should never get that high

what i mean with full mode is when the processor is working 100% in turbo.
and i spoke tom who said the the defult setting is often very high and when i ask which setting i should change he suggested i should ask here

No, you must have installed something wrong, or the H60 may be broken. For a stock clocked processor to be running at 90 degrees is ridiculous.

I didnt say it was very high at all, just said its not as low as it could be. auto doesnt mean stock.

You need to manualy set the volts to get an accurate temp.

High temps are probably because you have the pump plugged into the motherboard....

So all i have found evryone is talking about is the vcore and what i seen what you have so is mine pretty low so i took my h60 out and put the stock cooler in and it is now on 58-66°C so i say thanks for this forum for fast response.

Not really thanks - you havent even found the problem?

Was the H60 broken? pump not working? fans not spinning? no thermal paste on?

Not really solving your problems by taking off a high-ish end cooler and replacing it with the stock one...

the temps are attributable to something wrong with the h60, either operational, mechanical or installation issue,
best to solve those otherwise you have a funky h60 shaped, expensive paperweight

The pump was running it made the most noice in the system and my noctua fans were spinning but when i was taking it of was there no thermal paste on the cpu all was still on the cpublock and all dry and a mess to get of ( i think i should never go with stock paste on those thing).
I should have said it before but i was in a hurry.

That is surely the main thing to notice? I cant quite see what else you thought the problem was then if you could hear the pump and the fans running? Maybe thought Corsair had forgotten to put liquid in the system?

Get some paste online and put the H60 back on. It should perform a lot better than stock...if you dont do it wrong

Like i said im new to this and didn't wanna take it apart if it wasn't the problem so i asked tom and when he said the stock voltage setting can be high i wanted to see if it was that first before i took it off but now i know and gained some experience out of it.
And i will buy new thermal paste probably tomorrow or by new cooler as im tired of that sound my pump is making.

does the h60 not have selectable speed modes?
i have my h100 on the middle setting for the majority which is much quieter and only makes a couple of degrees difference in total temp

edit: after a quick google i notice it does not have speed selection

The pump speed could be controller by pwm? I havent looked.

It's still worth testing it while it's fully working to see what it's like

I have a h60 too and my pump doesnt make noise at all, or its just too quiet for me to hear, i have my 2500K running at 4.5Ghz 1.255 volts and im just using the stock fan that came with my h60 in PULL so thats about the worst u could possibly have... And im in the mid 60's max temp wise... The H60 is a good cooler u just did something wrong :/

DAxehh: If you use the stock fan is it not surprising that you do not hear anything else. but i changed mine to two noctua nf-p12 and the pump is louder then mine 200mm fan in the top of my cm storm trooper at max.

silly question, but if you have a storm trooper, why didn't you get a h100 instead of the h60?

Plug it into molex with a voltage reducer, see if that helps. If not, can you RMA it?

I have thought on that too but im thinking instead at buying the NH-D14 and cut of the top of my corsair vengeance ram, and sell the H60 to a friend who wants it if it was only the paste and is nothing more.
And i can't return it becouse of the noice because they said it was normal for the H60 make some noice.
I didnt buy the H100 because lack of money at the time and the place i ordered the parts didnt have the H100 in stock and woudnt get it before two months after.

If the product has a faulty pump which is very possible knowing the Hydro series, then they should let you return it. See what it's like with thermal paste on, and if need be, video it with the noise and link us to it here, we can tell you if it's faulty or not.

There's a loud pump, and there's a broken pump. They're very different things
