Did you change the settings back to what they should be, or are they still set at 2.5-2-2-6 ?

clear the CMOS theres a jumper on your motherbord, its next to the battery, it should have 3 pins, and a jumper is over 2 of them, move it to the other 2, asin shift it acros, for 5 second...then move it back n boot up, this will clear the Cmos, and you wil have to set everything in the bios again, but it wil make it work, i had this problem before, jsut never with memory, but that resets everything to default

Well, I would like to change the settings back, but as far as i know, I can't get into the BIOS (when I turn on comp, just blank screen and the POST beep). I'll try what you said Ionicle and hopefully it'll work. Also, my friend told me that I might have done damage to my memory (more like amazingly likely). Do you think so? How should I test it?

Well, the comp is running now, and I ran Memtest86 one pass (took like 40 minutes  ) with no errors, so as far as I can tell my memory came out of the experience unscathed :D.

Just out of curiousity, Frag's guide says that once I bump up the settings a bit (each time) I should run 5 passes of Memtest86. If it takes 40 minutes for 1 pass, do I still need to run it 5 times? Would 1 be enough?

Thanks again and reps to Ionicle :worship: :worship: :worship:

only be concerned about memtest #5 and #8.

#5 errors = voltage problem 99% of the time

#8 errors = alpha timings , usually your Tref value in the bios.

yep , when u start memtesting press these letters in a series

for #5 : c - 1 - 3 - 5 - enter - 0

for #8 : c - 1 - 3 - 8 - enter - 0

that should get u to run loops of those particular tests only .
