Hey Guys,

Need help on finding the best ram for my system..

*Corsair Dominator PC3-14400 DDR3 1800MHz

*Patriot Viper Extreme PC3-15000 DDR3 1866MHz 2GB

*Cellshock PC3-14400 DDR3 1800MHz

Which should i go for in terms of performance wise.

Thanks :D

If you don't mind me asking: why buy such cutting edge RAM if you're only going to get 2GB worth of it? Are you certain you cannot benifit from a lesser quality alternative set of 4GB or 8GB?

Mebe he's on XP and doesn't neccesarily need 4GB

Both the Patriot and the Cellshock have been reviewed on OC3D iirc, so have a butchers in the Memory section and you'll probably find the one to best suit your needs :)

Read them, personally what would u go for?

personally cellshock, the sinks on them are high quality and generally the company has a high quality look about them..

Very tough call. If I remember correctly the Patriot's responded better to extra voltage, but the Cellshock got a slightly higher % overclock. At the end of the day, performance was pretty much even.

If it was me picking I'd probably go for the Cellshock. Just because they are closer than Patriot if I need to RMA them, and I just love the quality of their heatspreaders.

Whatever way you go, you won't be disappointed in the slightest.

PS: There are some DDR3-2000 reviews coming soon. Not sure if you can hang on for a couple of weeks for those results?

With that sort of money I would say hang on for the next set of reviews ;)

What will be the main use of the rig?

So everyone agrees on CELLSHOCK?

depends on how long i have to wait for the PC3-16000 - Will there be a substantial difference in performance and value?

I mean i saw Crucial Ballistix PC3-16000 going for £400.. and the Cellshock is selling for £225 and try to clock it to near the 2k mark. But its good to hear all your thoughts on this topic.

That is not a good spec. those cards on a tv will no-where near be maxed out, id struggle to justify one let alone 2 for that sort of screen :(

Oh! the 40" is just for show. I've ordered a 24" Dell. :P

even so, you'd need 30 to trouble those cards.

True.. But i haven't seen anything i like apart from the 30" Dell which im thinking of getting in acouple of months time.

Ok, thats cool, the 9800gx2 quad sli is also cpu bottlenecked with anything below a quad @ 5.2ghz according to benchtec.. so hope you got some good overclocking skills :)

Was looking at some monitors and theres one i quite like.. Its the Samsung Syncmaster 305t :)

I hope my overclocking skills is good to lol. Probably get it to about 4GHz. Dont wanna fry my cpu now! :P Got a spare E8500 for my other system, so if worst comes to worst i'll know where to seek.

When you says Quad SLi bottlenecked what do you mean?

as in the gfx cards arent performing to there max as the cpu isnt giving them enough to do... the bottleneck effect./
