HI all,

I have just Built a new system, and when I turn on the MACH II it cools to its correct Temp -33, then the motherboard fires up, but only for about 2 secs before shutting down!

( So i presume the MachII is fitted right and is working correctly )

The MB is a DFI NF4 SLI-DR, the 2 standby power light on this are on MB/DRAM. When it fires up I see 3 RED diagnostic lights then 4 then it turns off.

I have connected the ATX24 & 4 Pin 12v to the power supply, is that all I need to power the motherboard.

( Stupid Question but the Seasonic600 S12 has 1 larger fan, the indication on the unit (the writting on it ) is that the fan ponts down! Is this Right)

Please help

Stocky Mate a Question

Hi Stocky,

I been trawling through posts trying to find a clue and I read your prob when you got this unit! Do you think its the power Molex with the dodgy pin again?

Also i forgot to mention a flashing green light on the MACH II board. Is that important?

Thanks

I Have also changed from P4 to AMD64

If its firmware I have no idea how to do this. I have no drivers.

And how do you do it when your computer isnt working?

Thanks

So is it the Mach2 shutting it down, or is it the PC shutting down due to some error?

Need to make sure that it's the mach2 doing it. If it's because it's not getting a power signal to the molex then you need to make sure the molex is in good shape, and it's not either a contact problem or a bad PSU molex that's not giving it.

If you just 'jump' a psu, make sure the molex has power by attaching a fan to the one you're using, then test and see if it shuts down due to no signal from the power supply, then that's where to look.

Just need to make sure of why it's shutting down.

It was a problem with the PSU Molex, not the control board if I remember right - but definitely check the molex anyway.

Also, firmware can be dodgey, so it might be worth re doing it. But if I remember right, the 2 sec problem is what happens when the Molex isn't plugged in.

Let us know if you find the prob and sort it :)

I must be the biggest ****** in history!

I checked the molex and i hadnt even connected the power supply to it!

Just shows never work on your system when its late and your tired!

System started fine, WindowsXP wont boot though, so am in safe mode

Must be because of the new motherboad and everything, anyone know a good way of updating/replacing my drivers without having to re-install windows?

Many thanks

lol, nevermind, it happens! 8)

I think that you'll have to do a clean install. I did the same move you've just done, and had the same BOOT problem. I had to slipstream the SATA drivers into the XP CD to get it to install properly. If I did the press F6 thing, and loaded the drivers, later on in the install it would say that it could not find the files - then XP would not BOOT if I chose the skip files option. :(

I solved the windows prob by removing SP2.

The system worked fine after I uninstalled it.

I take it just having SP1 is OK?

Many thanks

It's not ideal, I guess you need to understand where the conflict is and resolve it.

Could you load up SP2 and carry out the windows updates? Their might be a fix somehwere in there for your troubles. Also, ensure you have the very latest drivers for everything.

I tried installing the SP2 update after everything was sorted, but it wouldnt install.

Half way through said something like access denied.

I would do a clean install but i would loose too much stuff on my comp which i have no way of transfering.

Thanks for your help
