help with the 'ERRORMSG' code (asus crosshair ii)

hi all,

after a year of having people messing me about with my pc i have finally got the thing working,

spec:

mobo: asus crosshair ii

psu: antec earthwatts 650

amd phenom 9950 x4

ram: 2x2gb sticks kingston hyperx 1066

hdd: caviar blue 250gb

gpu: xfx radeon 4890 (i know its not a crossfire board.. long story)

basically everything worked perfectly for weeks until i get this error code on the lcd poster: errormsg before a load of ide vram test etc codes come up.

i could list everything that comes up but it would take a fast eye and good memory.

i have tried each ram stick individually,

both inputs on the gpu

running with no gpu but simply the motherboard vga,

running with no external plugs connected (usb, monitor cables, ethernet etc...)

nothing really seems to work

i should mention i was in bed this morning when it happened with a bad cold and told my brother if he wanted to use my projector for xbox to disconnect the vga from my graphics card. (the comp was turned off i think)

however since then i could not get it working, just damn codes!

anyone had this?

anyone know what it may be??

thank in advance would greatly appreciate this as it has been a year since trying to get this to work and finally i get it working (with more money) 2 weeks later it fails!!!)

cheers guys,

jules

If you say this has happened since he yanked out your projector, have you tried reseating the graphics card? Has been known to clear these issues

Agreed.

Some cards either aren't screwed in properly - or more often - the case and mobo are mounted in a way that when the screw is in too tight it pops the card off a bit. Partially the reason the graphic slots adopted the little catches at the back.

Uplugging something from them can sometimes upset things further.

ye unfortunately i have tried that, i have tried with and without xthe gpu, this is really bothering me... i only just got it working!! maybe i should just give asus a grilling.

any other suggestions? other things to try? anyone else had this?
