Hello all

dont laugh but i dont kow much when it comes to hardware and what it does

ok heres the thing, i got my new rig with 2 x 7900GTX's in from point of view(Lastest Nvidia drivers installed) and i keep getting FPS lagg when im in game on CS:S(running GFX @ 1280X1024 with everthing on def)

are the fans on the GFX card Temp controlled??

i dont know why i am getting this lagg can anyone put a point on this?

would it be that im running a SVGA screen with a DVI>VGA convertor???

and can anyone suggest a good moniter to buy??? 20" - 22"???

thanks for the input

run net_graph 3 in console and take a screenshot for us

i have run cs on a random server and i found out why im getting the lagg the choke is 20 i think its because ive only got 1GB of ram

i will order some more

thanks for the help people

yes but adding more ram is going to make little difference to the choke unless the servers youre on are packed. i play with one gb and my frames are always high enough play fine. im expecting youre using the default rates of 10000 30 20 which suck big time so if you do go and buy more ram dont forget to follow that guide. you may also want to increase the games heapsize when you get more ram

Like llwyd said, rates would be my first port of call.

By all means get an extra GB of ram, it wont do any harm - but dont expect massive improvements unless you tweak other things too :)

hi again

i have found out that the rates needed changing and that im in need of more rams as pointed out by Kempez. i have been playing cs:s for about an hour then it started to get laggy (this is after i changed the rates), i restarted the computer when on the same server again and it was fine for another hour or so, the first thing on monday im ordering some ram for my comp.

thanks for all the help and my nagging
