This is the link to ASROCK's info for the board: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=880GXH/USB3

£60 is cheaper than i've found. This is from the ASROCK website, for the motherboard RAM support: Supports DDR3 1800(OC)/1600(OC)/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory

This is OCZ 1333Mhz, quality manufacturer. it'll cost about £80 here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-DDR3-PC...QNHG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1293687253&sr=8-1

sorry about all the questions im a noob, but would i be better of with this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294 than my phenom x4 black edition?

Yes the 6 cores are better but don't buy it if you won't need it. The motherboard will work with it if you do change your mind though.

EDIT: I currently use a 955 and I don't feel the need for an upgrade at all.

Also I would always get mushkin ram over OCZ ram. I have heard of a lot of problems with OCZ ram and AMD.

The BE (Black Edition) cards have an unlocked multiplier, which is useful for some hardcore overclockig. But offer than that there is no difference.

so the quad core black edition would be better than a normal six core?

No not at all. Just because it's a BE CPU doesn't make the chip any better. Any six-core will beat that chip in most applications IMHO. Like I said the BE just has an unlocked multi for those who do some extreme overclocking (not even water-cooling, more sub-zero stuff).

There is no point I buying a BE processor just for having the multi as a normal consumer, just have a look at the number of cores and the frequencies and caches etc.

Edit: Oh and in general it all depends on what you are using your computer for. In gaming you don't need a six core CPU at the moment, ( not even a quad core really
