Help needed

I have recovered two deleted wmv files from a memory stick that got deleted but i can't play them.

Media player gives me this error: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

I have also tried playing the videos in vlc but with no luck.

I tried fixing the problem using ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair but that gives the error the file format can't be recognised. I also tried using ASFBin 1.8 which gives me the error that header is missing critical data.

I tried converting the files to other formats also with no luck.

Is there any way i can fix the header and get my videos back?

Thanks in advance for any help

Reckless, hi,

Could you please elaborate on how you solved your problem. I too have a similar wmv file problem, and none of the recommended fixers or alternative players help. Thanks!

None of the fixers or anything worked for me, I don't want to patronize you but it can be worth trying to play it in VLC. If not then you can try and fix the Header using a hex editor or similar, Unfortunately I can't help you with that as i got my IT teacher to do it for me.

Thanks for the reply, anyway. At least I know it is doable
