Hey folks,

this is my first thread here and i am asking for some help.

I set up my first NAS this week and now as i want to set up all the stuff like map the drives, i am running in a couple of problems.

to explain how i set up all the things :

I am settled in germany and my provider is Unitymedia.
So i am using this thing called the horizon box which is my modem.

Setup like this:

Modem > Router (ASUS RT65) > MY PC ; NAS - Synology D215J ; Other PC's of the Family

The NAS is showing as an other device not as a computer as it should be.

The webinterface is working fine but when i try to map the drive i get a networking error with errorcode : 0x80004005 .

I already tried most things i found as a solution in the internet but still run into this error.

Maybe some of you know what i could do?

Thanks a lot.

Did you create users/set up permissions on the NAS?

Are you trying to map using the device name or using it's IP address? Are you using a static IP on the NAS?

thanks for your response :)

i created user with permissions yes.
i tried to map with name and IP both did not work.

can you explain the static IP thing?
maybe some experience yourself how to configure that?

Did the NAS automatically get an IP address (DHCP) or did you manually assign one? It shouldn't matter either way, but I like to assign static addresses to NAS devices.

You can ping it's address, right? If you put \\IP Address in the run box does that do anything? If you've already tried that try it with \\IP Address\Share name. Do you get the same error with both?

it got it automatically, and if i try \\ip address the same error comes up.
