Help me overclock my CPU

Hi, i've been building pc's for a few years now and i've never overclocked one of them (I know, I know I really should have by now).

I've tried to follow guides and stuff but it's too complicated for me lol.

Could anyone help me please?

I have an Intel E8500 3.16Ghz Core2Duo and a Xigmatek S1283 (so cooling isn't an issue) and my mobo is an Asus P5N-T

(I have a screenshot from CPU-Z but I cant post URLs untill I hit 15 posts lol)

Please help :)

You basicaly need to inrease your FSB speed and voltage and your cpu vcore will want increasing it is a trial and error thing you will however need prime 95 and core temp or realtemp, but if I'm honest you need to take your time and read the guides on the net to get familier with all the different options, someone may have a good link for you, but a google search should find a good guide no problem.

don't be lazy and read it :D

i've tried but there is far to many settings, i'd probs have to get someone to show me how to do it, if more of the guides had screenshots that would help

If i'm honest it's not something that can be explained in a post it would take forever, but for the basics its not that hard just go into bios and inrease FSB speed and add soem vcore voltage and try it....at he end of the day there ain't alot that can go wrong jut have a fiddle it will become more apparent...if it crashes just reset bios

Well it would be great to have someone help me but I just downloaded the nVidia control panel which helps you overclock your system :)

My 3.16Ghz C2D is now running at 3.5Ghz.... not bad for my first time hahaha

(don't worry ill work on it)

except that is software overclok it's better done in bios...and you need to see if its prime stable for atleats 4hrs 30mins for very coarse stability test, otherwise it may just keep crashing and be unstable
