Help! Dead Mobo?

DONT GO OCZ!!! they are just as bad as an unnamed brand and yes you could run that off a corsair 650w :P

EDIT: get a corsair 600w it will be enough to power your rig and its only £52:

I think 600w's pushing it a bit, since a OC'd 4300 should eat up like 120w+, each card (Heavy OC) using 150w = 420w+, and the PSU only does 456w on the 12v rail.. With a few HDDs, fans, cathodes and a disk drive, I'd be constantly worried...

Still looking for a decent 650w PSU at a decent price...

My budget is the least money possible :P
I have literally NO money right now, being a student... And until I buy a PSU I have to share rigs with my bro, and with him being the good Samaritan, he's going to be using it maybe 70% of the time...
I could have maybe £40/50 by the 6th of next month, but that's not really enough for a future proof PSU x.x
I'm thinking of getting another cheapo unbrando PSU to last till Christmas, and then I'll treat myself, But as I'm reminded constantly, I should learn from my mistakes and be grateful my PSU didn't take anything with it...

Thanks for the post, but I'm either going to get something really cheap ''for now'' ... or save up and get a lovely modular 750w, if I can stand my brother's smugness at having a smaller, but more reliable PSU x.x

I think I've settled on the GS600... £60 On Amazon, and does 584w on the 12v rail, all while looking bloody amazing...
Should be able to rustle up 60 Squid pretty quick :)

Quick update, I just opened up the cheapo PSU and discovered ALL the caps (Apart from the 2 massive ones) were either bulged or leaking, with one having exploded leaving some weird red (almost rubbery) substance all over the PCB...

I've also decided I'm gona stick it out sharing with my bro until Christmas, where I'm going to do a big update to my PC, including a GS700 :)

Nice :p

Wise move fella, Corsair are solid (Seasonic OEM as a rule) bits of kit, be quiet is my preferred brand atm due to noise levels, however my older right had Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750W V2, quiet and rock solid.

Regards.

C.

Ive had a Thermaltake Litepower 700w for 2 years now. It's not all fancy and modular but it has been a very solid performer for me. I have no problem recommending it to you. For $77AUD it's been awesome (dont know how much in pounds) compared to $219 for the Corsair AX750.

Pretty hard to beat if you're on a tight budget. It's not a cheapie no-name brand either.

Would seem like the perfect option for me, but I don't think they make them anymore...
A Quick Google search shows that the only one still up for purchase is the 450w, and that's £45 @Kikatek...

Ouch. Maybe Thermaltake found a dead market in the UK and dont ships PSU's there anymore. There are about 10 shops within a 30 minute drive of me that stock them, all in the $70-$77 range. :(

Does Tom get a commision for recommending Corsair products? if he doesn't, he should. :D He might be the whole reason Thermaltake found a dead market in the UK. :P

That cheap psu had most likely killed everything.
See if you can salvage whatever parts you can. Or ring up your home insurance company and say a storm in the area fried your rig.
