Help Choosing CPU

I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a I7 to replace my trusty 6000+. To help battle the cost I have been accumulating the parts slowly, I recently purchased the ASUS P6X58D and was wondering which processor was good for me to get. I was debating the 920 or the Xeon W3520, from what I have read the Xeon is basically an 920 that has been cherry picked resulting in better overclocking and better temps. My cooling right now is a Ek supreme block and an xspc rx480. So basicly under this situation will the 920 be a cheaper option or is the Xeon worth the extra price, again I plan to OC this chip.

from what ive heard they arent picked for overclockabilty its all about temps as these will be 'server' chips u should go the 920 route mate and save urself some dosh

Well the retailer I buy from has them for only a 20 dollar difference, the thing is I dont know a place besides maybe Ebay where I can get a guaranteed D0 920.

That's odd, most uk retaillers will guarantee a d0 stepping chip.

Ocuk do this purposly to increase sales.

Surely there must be US retailler doing the same?

and if not read the box to see if it says SLBEJ cause thats the d0 steppings codeand the c0 is SLBEH :)

Yeah I know the difference between the box codes. Do you think I would have a better chance of a D0 now because retailers would have already sold of there stock of C0? I always buy of newegg.com

it depends if the company sold them all, can you phone up/email newegg and say i want a d0 stepping they should be able to help you out

Yeah so I found a retailer that had a guarantee D0, now all I have to acquire some more parts such as new psu (corsair hx850) and misc watercooling fittings such as 1366 bracket for my ek supreme. It may take a couple of weeks because I'm busy with college and work but I hope to get around to doing a build log.
