I formatted my harddrive through Vista, except when I try to reinstall Windows XP Pro I get "Bootmgr is missing". I have downloaded around 20 iso's trying to fix this too. I booted my system up through a Slax Linux DVD which worked fine except I just look at my harddrive under it... Its is COMPLETELY formatted.

I would either need someone to upload Bootmgr from your primary harddrive or someone could give me well nvm just bootmgr so thx in advance

I'm guessing that it matters whether its 32bit or 64bit.

I'll be willing as long as we have roughly the same OS.

And why did you leave Vista?

I had received a new motherboard, the Asus Rampage Formula. So as usual I formatted my harddrive and its 32bit btw its temperary actaully

Going back to vista soon

I found exactly 303 files that have the name bootmgr in it.

19.9mb big.

In multiple directories that is within C:\Windows\

Holy ****!

I found all the backup files and it is well over 3GB.

Sorry mate can't help.

Try sticking it into another PC and reformatting it and then installing WinXP.

U can get a black screen with "bootmgr cannot be found" with a bad overclock sometimes.

Beauty with Vista is ur meant to be able to use it's bootloader to launch XP. i.e. install Vista on one partition then XP on another, then put the XP partition's reference in the Vista selection thing for when it boots.

There are a fistful of guides about for it.
