Guys can anyone help me . Ive had trouble with this PC from day one always beeping i changed the memory then the graphics card and even the motherboard .

Its been working fine last 5 months ish but still beeping upon start up but i had enough changing things so i just let it go .

Now its totally gone , starts up for about half a second instantly dies and then 2 beeps beep constantly when its off .

The only thing I can think is the motherboard again or even the proccessor doing this .

Ive turned it off and on for days took out all the essentials and tried with 1 stick of ram ect but all that happens is it turns on then instantly off and the double beeps start .

Soon as it dies the lights are still on the beeps start (sound like there comming from the PSU) the light at the back changed from orange to red and the double beeps dont stop until i press the rest button on the PSU or turm all power off

My PC is PC.Quad QX6700,OCZ 4GB 4x1GB,8800GT,Asus P5E3 Deluxe

,Lian Li PC71, Galaxy 1000 PSU

Im at my wits end with this pc changed many things over the last year .

any help greatly appriciated

I`m not 100% sure about ASUS mobos, but in general I take a double beep to mean `new hardware detected`, which should happen once, then a reboot and u get a single beep.

Memory is usually 3 beeps, a long one and 2 quicker ones. (generally, again)

A single long beep ~can~ mean vga output.

Many of these can be caused by a psu issue, never guaranteed. Have u got a chance to use a spare psu to try it ?

Be sure also that all the necessary power connections are in. The 24pin+8pin, 4/6 pin to the gfxcard.. and so on.

1st thing alot of people would do failing any of that is to clear the cmos, load the fail-safe settings, and start afresh.

.

some do beeps for having devices plugged in at start up, ie usb mouse...

there can also be long and short beeps too.... morse code anyone :)

Thanks guys i really appreciate the replies and im looking into it all .

I think the different with this case though is that when ive had beeps before it starts up and then beeps either twice 3 times ect as it starts then it may go off or carry on ,so you can look up what it is .

This only beeps AFTER the pc is OFF .

I press ON everything starts for literally a millisecond then OFF , Then the double beeps start as the PC is off . The lights are on but if you press start nothing just the double beeps , I then have to pull the mains out to start again or can stop the beeps by pressing the bitton at the back of teh PSU

I just cant get it to go on so its hard to see anything . Im to wondering if its the PSU but its a 1000 watt and it does actually come on but goes off but all teh lights are still on. The only bit of literature I could find was something saying CPU protection but I cant be sure on that .

Im gutted ive cleared the Cmos ect i wish i had another PSU to test if its that

As Rast said... Sound just like the trouble a few people have had recently. I very nearly fell to the same thing but noticed just in time.

Make sure that not only do you have the 24pin power plugged into the mobo but also the 4 or 8 pin plugged into the mobo near the CPU socket.. Not doing so will cause the problems you describe. If you do already have them both plugged in then I can't really suggest anything that hasn't already been suggested.
