Hi,
19 year old UK freshers university student here going to Southampton University. Been an avid watcher of OC3D for a while now and have finally decided to sign up to this forum. I love PCs and electronics but have been living on a laptop for the past few years but now I have the chance to start building my first serious rig in a while!
I'm starting with a Jonsbo UMX4 case instead of an easier to build in Fractal or Corsair or whatever to challenge my PC building skills. I've also fallen in love with the minimalistic and yet sexy aesthetic of the case as I'm not a fan of gaudiness. Right now, I've gone with a high-mid-end MSI-themed rig (specs here), but due to a few unfortunate choices causing some problems (the H100i V2 not fitting and the PSU being too large for comfort), I have to sell some stuff in order to fit with my vision of what I want the build to look like at this time, which is a black, red and white theme. I plan to use a simple air cooler with a push/pull fan setup which should be more than enough for the 6700k.
I eventually plan to water cool the rig, probably in about a year's time, and by then the GTX 1080ti should be out and prices should have stabilized so I plan to swap the GTX 1080 in my rig for one of those or add another GTX 1080, depending on how much money I have on hand at that time. The Acer Predator X34p should also be out at that time which is the reason why I'm thinking of SLI GTX 1080s. The UMX4 supports two slim 27mm thick 240mm rads which should be just enough for the SLI GTX 1080s and a 6700k as long as I don't overclock too hard.
I also want to change the theme of the rig to a simpler white and black one. However, to do that, I need to swap the mobo to a Krait Gaming mobo, especially if I want to SLI as the Tomahawk doesn't support that, and the RAM to a set of Corsair Vengeance stick with white LED as those are the only two parts which don't fit the planned white and black theme once the GTX 1080 MSI cooler is gone.
Anyways, that's enough about my future plans! Thanks to OC3D and it's a joy to finally be a part of this community!
