Hi, I'm Ian.

New to overclocking but have been building systems for business use for a couple of years. Computers are just my hobby but am really interested in learning more.

Will be upgrading my system in late January, so may ask for your guidance.

Cheers and sorry in advance for any really dumb questions!

On your case you should remove the GPU brace and the other thing on the HDD bay aswell. Will make your rig look cleaner and you dont need them on there at all.

Thanks for the advice. After I took the shot I did actually take the video card bracket out. I have kept the GPU fan shroud in though as it comes standard with a 120mm fan that seems to move the air out the back of the case really well.

Still playing about with configurations while I wait to buy my new components in late January (after Sandy Bridge - hopefully the prices will drop!).

I will be buying:

I7-950

Asus X58 Sabretooth mobo

Mushkin Radioactive ram

Noctua D14

and then will be playing around with some more overclocking. I have managed to get my i5-750 to 3.8 Ghz but I didn't like the temps that I was seeing so I have it running at 3.2 Ghz for the moment.

One other question: Is it worth going for an SSD yet? If so does SATA 6Gb/s make a big enough difference to wait for newer drives or just bite the bullet and buy an OCZ Vertex 2?

Welcome to the forums mate, nice rig by the way! Good luck with the new build remember to put it on the project logs

Thanks for all the welcomes guys!

After reading some overclocking threads I have a nice stable OC happening. This forum is great!

4.0 GHz on i5-750 CPU, V core of 1.25v, prime 95 temps of around 68 deg C after an hour with ambient temp of 32 deg!
