Hi, my name is Jean-Luc and im from Canada. Currently figuring out what to do for post secondary studies (did 1.5 years of electrical engineering but probably changing).

My current setup is a Origin EON-15 from september 2010

Intel i7 620M

Nvidia 285M

2x4GB RAM

I would tell you more stats but thats all I can name off the top of my head, as I've sent my laptop in for repair for the first time ever (gotta love 3 year warranty). The main reason why I joined here is because I need to build a better desktop in time for Guild wars 2

Basically I want to run it on ultimate and Fraps at 60 Fps without any issues. I also want a very clean looking case like the Corsair 550D because I plan on getting artwork on both sides and the front. The main store that I have access to is canadacomputers.com which would save me shipping and also the wait time to get a part.

Anyways was wondering if you guys had any suggestions, sorry if I didn't put a URL there, I am on my phone haha.

Hi Jean-Luc, Welcome to OC3D, if you want to get better and probably quicker advice is to pose the question in the hardware section - new build advice. It would also be good if you could give some indication of budget.

Yeah well my budget is around 3000 excluding the paintjob. I can go up to 4000 but id rather not. So I can get a 7970 or a 680 if i want, just wondering how I am supposed to distribute my costs. Basically all I know is i need a 13 ish Ghz of total processing power at least and a solid 2GB of video. 8GB of ram will be enough im pretty sure.

Let me rephrase my question. If you were to build a desktop in a clean case as stated above with 3000-3500 ( to leave room for tax), what components would you get from canada computers?

You've got some good basics there - start a thread in the new build section though and we'll get back to you dude!

Welcome to OC3D

With that kind of budget you can have just about anything you want.
