ive recently discovered that my pc is running around the 60 degree mark when doing very undemanding gaming (cmr2) im getting a little scared about this...im currently running at stock speeds to stop the damn thing heating up more..im also running stock cooling....please, can anybody tell me whats up?

btw, im using the stock cooler which ive never removed, and it transfers heat through a pad, so i havent a clue whats up:(

Stock Heatsink......Thermal Pad......OVERCLOCKED!!!

What was you thinking!!

I'm supprised it wasn't higher than 60oc

Ditch that stock crap asap and invest in a nice new hs/fan.

I might be selling my Hyper6+Tornado's soon at a good price if you fancy.

Isn't that heatsink too heavy XMS? I thought they weighed a TON!

I reccomend the Thermalright SI-97. It's aluminium and it cools great.

Naa its not that heavy at all really. Its got good support for the back of the motherboard, and its a lot lighter than the tower112.

Coupled with the 80mm Tornado it is actually on par with the xp-90c+92mm tornado, and beats out the xp-120

LOL Gotta love the innacurate reading of my motherboard, 'eh?

Those temp's are rediculously WRONG.

It say's my chip's @ 54ºC right now, folding. LOL.

Take 10ºC off the temp's above for a more accurate reading.

How I figured this out?

My board was about 10ºC warmer reporting temps than my MSI K8T Neo..which fixed the temp reading issue in the BIOS release I was previously running.

So, my CPU temp atm: 44ºC.

Well I think i found ur problem :) Actually u found it yourself in your first post. I believe you stated stock cooling.

Stock cooling and overclocking are two words that don't go in the same sentence, unless u have deep pockets and dont mind replacing proccies left and right because they had a miniature nuclear melt down inside your case, rofl.

Get urself an XP-90 and a high speed panaflo and u'll be rockin' and rollin'. Actually, I have one that I could sell u if your interested, even has a Pana on it, brand new condition, nice arse hsf. In fact the same one that took my 3000+ Winchester to 2.8ghz :D

I didnt say it wasn't possible Dave :) Find that in what I typed above and i'll give u a cookie, lol.

right, ive done a few things to remedy my problem

ive cleaned all the sticky, gooey remains of the pad off my hs, added a new, larger copper base to it, polished with my dads amazing multi power tool, got some new artic cooling paste, a nice uv reactive case fan running at 3500+- rpm, (80 mil)..the result: temps down to 42 OC'd by 200 mhz,, and it sounds lone helluva lot quieter(the new fan replaces my old crappy asus fan)
