Heat Issues :(

So currently I have an i7 960 and a 7970 under water.

With the amount of rad size i've got i'm really not happy with my temps. I've had this CPU at 4GHz on a single 120 all in one solution before, now I can't get it anywhere near there.

Here's what I've got, I've reset everything to stock

i7 960 @ 3.2 @ 1.2 (stock)
Reference powercolour 7970 @ stock
XSPC Rasa CPU Waterblock
EK FC7970 Full Cover Waterblock
Phobya Xtreme Nova 1080 Radiator (external)
4 x Phobya 180mm G-Silent 18 Case Fan
XSPCX2O 750 Dual 5.25” Bay Reservoir Pump

So after resetting everything back to stock I ran some tests.

I ran Prime 95 with full fans for 20 minutes, hottest core was 74

I turned the fans off and ran Prime 95 for another 20 minutes, hottest core was 81.

I turned the fans back on full and ran for 20 minutes, hottest core was 76

I turned prime 95 off and left the fans running and hottest core was 46.

Is it just me or do those temps seem really high for a rad that big and at stock?

I've took the fans off the rad, given it a good clean. I did have some air left in my loop from when it had leaked (outside the case thankfully) and I changed the liquid over. But I seem to have got the last of the air out of the loop by now.

I'm thinking potentially 2 culprits. The pump has been louder than normal recently, sounds like something could be loose? However the fact that the temps only go up by 7 degrees when the fans are turned off suggests to me that the fans aren't really doing anything. What does the problem sound like to you?

Just reseated the CPU block, looks like i had used a tad too much TIM but nothing massively excessive. A few smallish air pockets did pop up out of the CPU block, however I managed to put more air back in the loop by turning the pump back on when its on its side, managed to get it all back out though.

How would I tell if there is an air lock in the rad? earlier I gave the rad a good shake and got a decent amount of air out of it.

Just running prime 95 at the moment, looks like i've got an extra degree or 2 at best out of this

Edit: And I've actually made it worse lol

I recorded a video of the pump noise, does this sound normal?

So I definitely can't get any more air out of the loop, I have agitated the PC, and shook the reservoir, flipped it, rotated it, everything I can think of.

One thing i've noticed is that only the end of the radiator where the fittings are is getting hot, does this suggest the pumps not powerful enough to push the water all the way to the end of the radiator?

Ouch don't like the sound of that!

I can't see how it would have got air locked though, i filled up the res seperately when I refilled the loop
