Right!

i did some major downgrading over winter.........yeah totally opposite to what most people did, im even using my trusty ol 8800gs.

The need for high end computing has gone down the drain for me as i use all the uni computers for that, they have dual quad xeon workstations

Just struggling with the choice i have to make with the graphics card, yes anything is an upgrade to a 8800GS but yet i dont play BF3 or anything that requires a super mega high end card.

I like my old school titles such as css and lower graphics based games like Diablo 3 beta and League of legends.

The only trouble im seeing at the moment is running the 8800GS on 1080p.......it hates it with a passion.

i have around £110 to spend and im willing to go second hand.

5770's are going for £60 on aria. I have one in my work PC and it is a very good card. If you ever want to game in your "free" time, you could do at 1080p on low settings with games like BF3. I have tried BF3 on a 5770 and it runs pretty well.

5770 just seems like really old tech and will be shortly phased out.......thats the logic in my head right now

For £110 the best card you can get is an AMD 6850 or a GTX 460 without spending more you wont get a better card for the money unless you can find a second hand AMD 6870 for £110 on Ebay or something.

Aria has a Powercolor 6850 for just under £100

I have a 6850 and it runs everything perfect even BF3 on High settings.

the 7950 is due at the end of this month or beginning of next, the 7850 and 7870 are due sometime in march. Don't know about prices though.

Surely they are going to be above £110 though right? I would say go for a 6850

6870 or 6850 for sure in that price bracket. I paid around £200 for 2 6870s, just look around for a good deal on them.

Here is the order I would go in my first choice would be the 6870. They are 15 euro over what you want to spend but I am sure if you wait for a sale then there you go. My second choice would be the 6850 and then the 550 ti.

The 6850 is a pretty good card.I have one and ive managed to max out BFBC2 at 1080p (not solid 60fps but mostly 60fps).For BF3 i can run details at high and everything else at low/off.Dues Ex seemed to max out and over 60fps which i was suprised about but overall a good card
