HDMI Issues to TV.

Not sure weather this was a 'Graphics Cards' or 'Screens & Displays' so took the safe bet

Right,
When I have my PC on my Monitor everything is peachy :D
I currently have it connected to my 32' TV via HDMI and my sound is broken, by that i mean whenever I play any music, youtube vids, films there is a break every second or so.......kinda like a scratched CD that jumps.

Weirdly.......I load up any game on Steam, and sound is perfect.

I've done the Payback Devices and made sure that the TV is default, and I do get sound....but its not right.
Also the picture quality is terrible.....but one thing at a time.

Am I having one of those daft moments and missing something simple ?

No not at the moment, but I'm sure I can get the neighbour to try it out.....

I gotta admit though, I have faith in my PC components and TV but this cable was given to me.......so wouldn't be surprised if it is at fault.

To be honest, I'd just check your HDMI cable. Try it with another device like Tom suggested.

My mate thought his Xbox 360 was broken because he had a weird output on his screen, so he bought a new Xbox, and it still didn't work, so he bought a new TV and it still didn't work, and it turned out his cable was damaged xD

A few weeks ago I had a high quality HDMI cable that didn't work on my PS3, but did on my Xbox; I swapped the HDMI cable with a £1 cable from eBay, and it worked perfectly for the PS3. They seem really temperamental, but I was just happy it was something as cheap as a £1 fix for me.

just whatever you do, don't go out and spend more than a fiver on an hdmi cable, anything more than £5 is a con in a box ;)

May sound stupid but can you try a different HDMI port on your TV?

I have a TV/Monitor and when anything is plugged into HDMI 1 and I use a PC or Xbox on HDMI 2, the picture quality is really bad for some reason.

What mode is your TV in? If you are using it as a monitor you need to put it into PC/Gaming mode. If you have it in normal mode with all the extra stuff it can make everything look bad and cause lag.

For sound you may need to reinstall the HDMI audio driver in the AMD driver install package. Run the installer, choose a custom install and make sure the box for the HDMI audio driver is ticked.

Also, go into device manager and uninstall or disable the realtek driver.

I've thought about this.... Poundland have them.....for a Pound  but I believe there is Cheap, and then Cheap and Nasty.

Given that I dont normally use the TV as my monitor, its only beacuse 'she' is sleeping, and if I wake her its like 'Bear with a sore head!' I think I can make do.....for now

HDMI 1 and 2 result in the same.... :(

When I had the PC connected via the PC/VGA port on the TV, the sound was great, picture not so, but still.
For now, I'll look into the HDMI audio driver, its not too much of a biggy as its only a temporary thing.

I'll get the Cable tested on the neighbour pc/console and sort the audio driver and will go from there....is weird though that the picture/audio while gaming is superb.

cheers for the suggestions

Have you got headphones connected to your PC?? My headphone socket over rides my HDMI audio.
