Having to right click and run as administrator...

Just a possibly simple question, I was look through all my old PC games yesterday and found a game from 2001, Arcanum created by Sierra. Well I have decided to install it and play it again. When I run the disk though, I have found that I have to right click on game icon from the start list and run as administrator for it to start the disk and play the game. It will not work when left clicking the .exe file as everything else installed does. Why would I have to run as administrator for it to work????

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate OS.

Because the game is using additional files which windows 7 is trying to protect. I disable UAC as soon as I install windows.

Many older Windows games were written in a time before many of the newer security features of Windows were implemented. It's just how the game was written before "Administrator" mode was introduced to Vista/7.

Ok, thanks. How do you go about disabling it in the OS after install?

It's in the Control Panel. You can adjust how annoying you want the User Account Control to be. Go into the Control Panel and put "User Account Control" in the search at the top.
