Haswell Degradation

It has come to my attention my 4770K isnt stable at 4.4GHz anymore no matter what i do. It was running at 1.282v and temps never went above 80 degrees

Is the voltage high enough to cause it to degrade?

Im currently testing at 4.3GHz seems alright so far, still got 6 hours of testing left

Don't average 4770ks run stable at 4.4-4.5GHz @ 1.25V? I'm no OC expert but 1.28 seems quite high for 4.4. Could just be a below average chip from the start. How long have you had it? I can't really picture it degrading at below 1.3V, or honestly 1.4. I've never heard of such a thing.

Out of curiosity, what are you cooling with? I'm pretty sure once you are getting to 1.3V you are getting out of air cooled territory.

Yeah most of them seem to be around that voltage, my chip isnt very nice anyways took alot of messing around to get it stable!

i got the cpu on the 14 of September, so it would have been up and running in those few days.

Using a H100 to cool, with 2 SP120 fans running on quiet mode

got a similar experience, was running 4.5 at 1.275 for like 2 months and now its not stable anymore

AIO cooling, below 1.3V, not stable at 4.4Ghz and only a few months old? Seems to me like it's just a pretty bad chip. I don't think you'll see much performance loss assuming it's stable at 4.3Ghz, which is really quite a low aim at that voltage. Think you just got unlucky tbh!

was it a matter of dropping the multi and its stable again, or start from scratch and find a new overclock?

yeah maybe, ahh so tempted to get another cpu :(
