Has anyone ever used this?

Hey, I have came across a few of these recently, on their specs and reviews they seem to get rid of a good amount of hot air and are quiet, I think they look amazing to put above or below your graphics card and just to get rid of allot of hot air instead of staying in the case for longer, has anyone used these?

Ive heard non referance GPU's are great for cooling the card and being quiet but dont tend to exhaust the hot air out the back of the card and just blow it in the case to travell to the top, just wondering if anyone has had experience with them as I would like to get one or some but dont want them to be loud or be able to hear them over quiet fans.

[I'm using a different air flow in my build im and having a fan at the top of the front of the case in the optical bay blowing cool air straight through the D-14 then out the back and then a fan at the bottom blowing cool air to the GPU, and think a few of these [or even a home made solution] will stop the air getting 'trapped' in the middle of the case after it comes oput the GPU, or even using the side fan of the case to exhuast ]

I had an Antec one years ago that came as standard with an Aria case. They are OK - not exactly quiet as they use those leaf blower fans. I think that they are mainly intended for sff cases were the air circulation and cooling tend to be quite poor.

Kk ill probably pass then, I thought they looked to be loud form the type of fans they use and thought it was too good to be true some of the reviews saying they were quiet, spose 1 persons quiet is anothers loud.

I'm probably gointo take out some PCI slots and make something to mount a small quiet 60 mm fan there, seems a good idea

the smaller the fan is, generally, the noisier they are!

you should never have anything smaller than a 120mm fan in any rig

If you've got a bottom mounted fan - then that normally disturbs enough air so that you don't get a hot spot under the gpu. What case have you got?

Well I have the Sbaerooth P67 Mobo with the thermal armour and as Im using the D-14 for cooling and not a downward cooler, form what I have seen I will haveto use the assist fan in the middle of the mobo [a small 50mm] anyway or it gets even hotter. But I have chose the quietest I could find at this size which is the 'fractual silent' and doesnt push too much air but it doesnt need to and also works with what Im doing.

And for my plan in the PCI slots I was goingto use a 60mm or 70mm if possible fractual or 'BeQuiet!' fan which both have great reviews for being very quiet and I can use a fan controller too.

Well I have the Bitfenix Shinobi but I have got a different plan for the airflow, Ive not got any optical drives or harddrives [just an SSD and external HDD] im gointo mount a 120mm fan at the top of the front where the optical bay is, blowing cool air straight through the D-14 and hot air straight out the back.

Then im goingto have 1 at the bottom blowing cool air straight to the GPU, but as I am doing the ^above^ If I had no fan at the back it would leave hot air circulating in the middle and getting 'trapped' so If I have some outtake at the back near the GPU than that hot air will escape.

Then I have the small 'assist' fan in the middle of my MOBO inbetween getting any air form the middle of the case and pushing it to the edges to escape out the back at the top and bottom.

This is all theoreticly but makes sensese to me, so basicly instead of having the cool air coming form the bottom right of the case and hot air escaping on the top left of the case [as if the case is infront of you with the panel off] Im having cool air coming from the right of the case and the hot air escaping form the left of the case so it goes straight through.

Liek I said its all in theory but it should work very very well and keep the case almost as cool or as cool as possible as the room its in

Im pretty sure if manufactures didnt have drive bays or HDD bays or anything they would do this, I know hot air rises but aslong as I have airflow coming for the front to the back consitantly and the assist fan in the middle blowing and air from the middle to either side then it should in theory be allot better and less complicated.

Im using either 'Bequiet!' or 'Akasa Apache' fans for the 120mm's which both seem to push allot of air and be very quiet

i used to use Akasa Apache "superSilent" fans with my olde coolit vantage (push/pull and chassised).... very quiet

i have 6 of them lying around on a shelf now, as i swapped them for some noctua NF's, as all my cooling is now noctua. crap colours (same as the apaches) - but even quieter

Nice, I was thinking about Noctua's but they seem pretty expensive and apparently are the king of quiet but dont push that much air, while ive heard allot that the Apache fans push a ton of air for the noise they make due to their fan blades. Plus they are the 'army' colour like Green and 'mud' which really really matches my military style Sabertooth

Before when I started making this PC I didnt even think or care how it looked, I didnt even want a window. But after starting to get everytihng I thought it was kind of stupid to spend so much and not show it off and look nice. I do love minimalistic looks but the look im going for really suits my eyes.

I may even swap the Noctua fans on the D-14 for more Apache fans, may improve cooling you think? although be slightly louder
