Hard Drive Help

Well, *sigh*. As you mostly all know, I have had a helluva lot of problems with my PC's lately. Mostly, rebooting, etc. Well, I ran Memtest, standard test, looped 6 times, no errors. Looped test #5, 86 times, no errors. I looped test #8, 211 times, no errors. So, it is NOT the ram. But, today, even with my PC on for ~50 hours, I got done playing CS:S and my PC rebooted. No BSOD flash, just a pure, reboot. Don't get your cock in a knot arguing with me over this, it isn't the PSU, Mobo, Proccy, or Video Card.

But, I have good evidence to believe it is my Seagate 80GB HDD w/8MB Cache on SATA. It is quite loud, and the performance is diminishing, compared to my slower, older, Hitachi DeskStar 80GB 7200 RPM w/2MB Cache on ATA. Here, is the smart status on my Seagate. Odd, isn't it. The Fitness level has seemed to decrease slowly ever since I got it but I never thought much of it.

(BTW=That performance indicator is on madd drugs; that's always been full, in every drive I've owned. It's like a Terry Shaivo Performance Bar.)

Alrighty, Here's the 'S.M.A.R.T' readings.

Seagate

See the low fitness meter? It keeps going lower!! Not over short periods of time, but long periods of time. I've only had this HDD since November, got it OEM of eBay. Maybe I'll RMA it. I think I'll RMA both my HDD's for the helluvit. New can't hurt; but then again, if Hitachi see's theres nothing wrong they will most likely send back the same HDD so I better keep that Hitachi here.

See That? Odd, isn't it. Looks like I might have to RMA my Seagate, but I wan't some experienced opinions on this.

Yes sir... Looks like your Seagate is about to bite the dust. It's dieing WAY too fast. Those sort of problems you were explaining could most definately be caused by a bad HD. I take it ur OS is on the Seagate correct?

RMA the bitch, I bet all of your probs will melt away :)

Of course the OS is on the seagate. It's hella fast when it's operating the right way. Right now it seems fine. Nothing important is on it, my Hitachi houses all my important data.

Time for RMA my friend!

Yep. Time to contact Seagate.

I fucking hate PC's.

This kind of makes me angry @ seagate; but they do have a 5yr warranty so I can't argue with that. :worship: :yumyum:

Nope, can't argue there, that's a pretty damn good warranty on a HD :)

Ye, It is. I emailed them. Lets se what they have to say.

"Thanks for calling Seagate technical support, this is Jose, how may I help you? Ok, you need to RMA your hard drive? Not a problem, let me just look this up in my computer.... It looks like you're using it to store too much illegally downloaded pr0n. This voids our 5 year warranty, would you like to just buy another one?"

hehe ;)
