Hard Drive dead?

Ok this is my 3rd time writing this due to my internet being a twat so I'm going to keep it short.

1. I open case
2. I close case
3. I turn on pc
4. The Asrock screen appears as usual
5. A blank screen appears
6. Asrock screen
7. Blank screen and so on
8. I plug in spare hdd
9. Boots up windows 8 just fine

So do you guys think my hard drive could be dead, it is detected in the bios.

I made sure the sata and power cables were pluged in correctly.

Boot off the windows 8 one and see if you can read it through my computer?

Update : The hard drive is recognized in the bios and also in my computer on another os, could this just be a damaged os?
