Ham's SS Build Log **56k**

Very nice,

I'm still running a fever so I didnt get to answer your questions Ham, so if you message me today I'm feeling better.

Good to hear your recovering:)

The only debate ive got left is whether or not to buy some 1/4" or 3/8" tubing or use what i have. What i have is 8mm OD stuff, wich sits between the 1/4 and 3/8". But i have a feeling the walls ar'nt going to be think enough on it.

Im thinking my best bet is to get 3m of 3/8" tubing for this unit. Then ill need a few straight though 3/8" couplers, and the 1/4" side of my filter should fit inside nicely?

And yes, im milling out my own evap. its just a basic stepper design. £20 for 2 lumps of metal is better than £60 for a pre-made one.

1/4" (So around 6-7mm? 8 maybe fine) for high side,

Then 3/8 (9-10mm?) for low side.

The larger tube is on the suction to allow the evaporation and expansion of the refrigerant.

More parts!

Decided to get some proper tubing, just in case. 3m of 1/4". Also we've got a T valve, a spear valve, valve cores and a tool for taking them out/putting them in. And a couple of couplers.

The whole thing mocked up out of 8mm and not brazed together. Minus an evap still.

Things needed now:

Copper slug for evap

Charging lines

Mainfold

Vac pump

& Poke my old man into filling up his propane tanks so i can nick it:p

So a question to everyone:

Start building tonight or wait and purge?

(Im gonna purge the evap when ive milled it, i just don't know i i should bother with the other joints...)

Wirelessly posted (LG Fusic: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/2.0.4719/1528; en; U; ssr))

looking great ham! not much longer and u will have urself a nice little single stage. u gonna permanently run propane or step up to a proper refridgerant down the road?

I would like to move to a better ref, but unfortunatly officaly you need a licence to handle anything worthwhile in this country. And i can't get without doing an entire refridgeration and air-con course.

However i can get big bottles off ebay. But they are pricey. So along way down the road maybe;)

I had nothing to do tonight, so i got to a little brazing. Unit is starting too look like... well a unit!

Tis a Wet and Chilly Chips 120mm rad:p. I bought it in the hope it would be ok, then found out that johann has used them before.

There very few left now, picked this one up cheap and may get some more if there still in when ive finished this.

Great looking ham, dont be so worried as to single joints on the high side to make piping nicer like when I have 8 joints on high using anglers.

Wow Ham, progress is rocketing along. When does your school project needed to be completed by? You should get an A+ for this one! When do you expect to have it benching? Keep up the great work, well done :)

Lol, cheers PV. But i left school in serach of better things (collage ftw).

Unfortunatly this means im footing the bill myself.....

I expect itll be up and running the other side of Xmas. As ive got to save up for the dam Vac pump:(.

Someone asked for a look at the evap design

I couldn't find my original drawings, so after a few hours of trawling around trying to find a version of G-Max that i could acctualy download i knocked this up.

Nothing to scale, ignore the funky colours and bare in mind there would be a tube over it to seal it up.
