Hey peeps,

I've just installed my h80i in my rig and i think something is certainly wrong.

Have you see these temps i am getting at idle - i even used arctic silver? what the hell?

this was at stock - when i try to oc it just cries

Arctic silver is fooking shite mate. Clean that shit off and get some decent paste.

If you bios voltage is auto thats not stock either...... You need to manually set it.

reapply tim (I use MX4 for everything..) and reseat.

The fan(s) are definitely blowing? Pump making any dodgy sounds?

Both fans are certainly blowing, and in the same direction - i used the SP120 that TTL fashioned a few weeks ago instead of the ones that came.

I've managed a modest OC to 4.5 at 1.3v

You are correct, there is faint grinding sound coming from the rad - but i thought that it would be ok seeing as it is only noticeable if you put your head right next to the rig??? Send it back?

I just thought that idle temps would be much lower than 40 degrees!!!

See before and after prime95 (albeit for 5 minutes)

yeah they should def be lower than that, for sure. know this feel since the same exact thing happened to me not too long ago. Get that ish RMA'd!

haha thanks fella! ironically i am in the queue with Ebuyer to get it RMA'd right now!! - i'm back on the stock cooler and still getting 40-degrees hahaha

Grab a magnet of decent strength and put it on the pump. Turn it on and see if that crappy little impeller blade starts spinning properly (the grinding noise). May just be a nasty bubble thats knocked it off center.
AS5 is horrible compared to the latest in TIM's. Plus its conductive. Grab some noctua or mx-4.

Thanks for the help guys, the h80i is now on its way back to Ebuyer. Having watch the Christmas comp video - i clearly am to fussy when it comes to thermal paste! the way TTL just rubbed off the pre applied shizz with some kitchen cloth; i was there is surface cleaner and purifier etc! o well i will know for next time!!!

thanks again ppl!

I had the same problem with the first H100 I bought, weird grinding noises and the temps skyhigh. RMA did help, or rather, yell at the people in the store till they would replace it instantly :D
