H80 + 2700k Temperatures?

Hello everyone,

First of all, I'm new here. Got here from the well known youtube videos and thought; ''Sounds like a good community!''. It's been a while since I've been in a community involving PC hardware, and this place just sounds, and look absolutely baller.

Now to the actual matter at hand.

I recently got my first ever Intel CPU. Been an AMD die-hard up untill Bulldozer and I thought I'd give intel a go.

So I have a 2700K clocked at 4.6Ghz cooled by a H80 with GT 1850 fans in push pull in a Silverstone Fortress FT03, and the temperatures confuse me..

I'm getting Idle temperatures around 35~39C, and load seems to drift around 65~70C.

Is this okay at all? My AMD Phenom II ran much lower under load on aircooling, and the idle temps where a couple of degrees lower too. I've heard people got below 30, but it seems I can't even get close to that.

Also, whenever I launch an application my temps seem to rocket towards 45~50C and then quickly go back to idle. I've never seen my AMD processors do this (or I just never noticed..). Is this normal?

I'm hoping you guys have any wisdom on this, and maybe some tips on making it cooler.

Intel cpu`s is running much hotter than previous amd cpus.Normally, with performance comes heat(BD excluded

).How much core-voltage is needed for your oc?

Welcome GunCore. Those temps look fine as my 2600K reaches 65ish C at 4.0GHz when folding. Only pushing 1.19V through it though and really need to get a better cooler if I want to push it further.

Aaa never sure what temps where ook for my 2600K but i guess 55c at 4500Mhz (1.3vcore) isn't bad

and i think my vcore is a tad to high , going to lower it later when i get some other hardware stuff........

Welcome GunCore as you see all fine mate, have a good stay and greetings Ray........

55C at 4.5Ghz is awesome in my eyes. What cooler you using by the way?

those temps look really good for that clock, my 960 tops 90 after a few hours of prime

under general load tops out about 80 though

Thanks everyone! It's great to see my temps are fine. Also great to see other similair setups for comparison.

I'm going to run a longer stress test since I've only ran prime95 for about two hours or so. Curious to see if my rig can keep below 70 with some extensive stress testing.

I'll let you guys know!

while longer stress testing is good for stability testing, i've found in my experience that after about an hour or so you generally hit a plateau of temps, leave it long enough and they may rise higher, but probably not too much
