H100i pump noise

My H100i makes a humming sound along with some ticking. It's not really that loud, I've just got a really quiet PC (replaced H100i stock fans with Scythe GT's on low voltage), so the pump is now one of the most audible things in there.

I'm guessing this is normal?

i had a horrid noise on my spanking new h55 the other week was like a high pitched squeal turned out it was the stock corsair fan that came with it. must of got slightly damaged in shipping cause i had to reseat the blades that fixed it but the noise was so much i swapped the fan out in the end for some bitfenix pro's instead its dead silent now..

@james my brother's h100i was the same like a gurgling/ticking noise corsair swapped it out no issue they said on the rma form that his pump was damaged he only had it a week so i cant figure out how, corsair did refund his delivery cost though and the rma turn over was less than 72 hours his new one was perfect dead silent he even got given 2 sets of fans.

it's coming from the pump, is really loud and usually disappears by tapping it a few times. when i then tap it again the sound comes back. it's a consistent sound, can't really say it has a pattern. sounds a bit like a motorboat.

If it's really that loud, then I'd suggest that you get that unit replaced via RMA. You can start a ticket here.

This sounds normal to me. It's not uncommon for pumps to have a very faint humming sound, which is an indication that the pump is running. If your temps are good, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Loud is an understatement at times. Sometimes it will sound like ball bearings rattling around for 2 or 3 seconds and it just stops and I won't hear it again for a week.

But it cools great, so I am not going to change a thing with my 100i.

I am still rocking the original H50 on my 980X. When it was new, I would occasionally get some sound out of it, but I have not heard any for a couple of years now.

I gotta be honest, I've played around with a bunch of these Corsair pump-in-one efforts for the last 6 months or so, and to be fair, I'd prefer a tower cooler with two quiet fans (that the Corsair's generally don't have)

The idea is good, but it aint slick enough for me yet.

I think I agree really...
I'd prefer a D14 over the H100i, but aircoolers just can't compete on aesthetics with the AIOs.

In all fairness, the pump on the CM Seidon 240 I have is silent, so they aren't all bad. In a couple of years, after they've sorted out all the problems with the AIOs, I reckon they'll be worth having then.

I would not judge them just on a few online posts. Corsair makes a really good product. Things like a little air in the lines are just the nature of the beast when dealing with sealed units. There are a few bad one's, but I bet there are way more people without a single complaint than the few online.

I have had a few tower coolers, like the TrueEx Extreme, and they work, but I don't like a hunk of metal hanging off my board, and frankly, I don't care for the looks after using the Corsair units.

For the price, and performance, and convenience, they are just hard to beat.

meh i think i will stick to the tapping. i had to RMA literally everything i bought this year, i had enough of it. + i don't want to go back to stock cooling.

It's totally up to you and I undersntand. If the cooler is keeping your temps all well within range, then there is no reason to RMA, BUT if it gets to the point that the noise is getting louder, my offer still stands.

Have to say Ive had my H100i running with no fans and I have to get my head pretty damn close to it to hear the pump. NEVER heard one in the case.

TBH The loudest thing I think in any of the rigs Ive put together for reviews is the mechanical storage drive I dump screenshots of the results off too.

There must be something wrong with mine then :( Can you hear it through the side of your Air 540?

Thanks

I've had the opportunity to hear three H100i's in the same room on a showcase and one of them sounded very loud while the other two were near silent. This was with the doors off so I could get quite close.

I'd say these products have a wide range of build quality.
