I think with a machine in a different class to my previous machines it's time for a new name and this time it's in honour of my favourite author who passed away this year
So, what are the specs?
17.3" Gloss 90% Gamut Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Intel® Core™i7 4930K
16GB SAMSUNG 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (4 x 4GB ) (type YK0 overclockable)
2 x NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780M - 4.0GB GDDR5
512GB OCZ Vector + 750GB WD SCORPIO BLACK
Sony optiarc bluray drive
Intel 7260AC wireless
4 x USB 3.0 PORTS + 3 USB 3.0 (flush expresscard) + 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS
78.44WH Lithium Ion Battery
2x 330W AC Adaptor + multi brick adaptor
So that's all well and good, but what exactly will I be doing with a notebook to make it worthy of being a project?
The first step is a repasting of all the heatsinks, i'll also be using high performance thermal pads which I will adjust to be the right height so that the heatsinks make the best possible contact.
The second step is replacing all the firmware with custom unlocked files, that will allow me to adjust GPU voltage and clocks along with the system bios that will allow me to overclock the CPU and adjust voltages/power limits along with memory frequencies and timings.
The next step is of course overclocking the thing. That goes for the CPU/GPU but also the LCD which I hope to get 90-100hz out of.
I'll also be replacing the stock keyboard with my the one from my old MSI machine, it will need a little trimming in places but that's what a dremmel is for.
Overall I intend to take it from a very fast machine to one that will stand alongside most desktops for compute
For now here are some stock photographs for those not familiar with the 570WM:
The machine is currently awaiting to be shipped tomorrow (monday) and reach me before noon the next day.
