hi all i am new to this this forum so please be gentle lol i am looking for a waterblock for my gtx480 and was wondering what the best block would be i have the xspc raystorm d5 kit

I'm not sure if you can still find waterblocks for a GTX480. Imo it's really not worth spending money on a waterblock an old card, I'd much rather save the £60 or so and get a new card later

Welcome, mate!

This might be of interest to you.

But as MadMarc said, these blocks are probably hard to find nowadays, and even if you find them, I'd advise you to save the money and save up for a new card.

Does not even have to be water cooled, the newer cards (like a 660 or a 670) run much quieter than a 480 on air and perform better.

If you really want a block for your 480, have a look if you can find a used one on ebay for cheaps.

Recommending to buy a new block for a 480 at this point isn't really sound advice imho.

I was in the same predicament couple of months ago. Have 2 cards and a whole lot of noise. Need blocks - youre SOL, buy new at 100eur a piece... And i needed 2. Which made it more difficult.

Waded through ebay and eventually found one german guy selling his 4 way sli blocks. Bought 2. Will ask if he still has two remaining... Watercool Heatkiller X3 blocks, full copper block/stainless accent/acetal ports.

thanks all for the input i think i am going to hold on and get a new card what do you recomend i will have about £200 to spend

you can get used 480 block for about 35-40 quid on ebay, you just have to check it constantly. i got 2 for 80quid incl delivery from germany.

Also, 480 sli pretty much plays anything i throw at it. Even crysis3 is decently running, considering age of cards...
