Hi guys. I fitted a GTX 950 today and everything works perfectly unless I try and launch a benchmark or whatever full screen. If I try it goes to a black screen (monitor stays on) and becomes unresponsive. However, if I try running the app (Valley for example) windowed it works perfectly

Any ideas? I am running Win 7 X64 SP1, checking for updates now.

I posted this in italics on another forum last night.

OK update. So I went to advanced settings on Windows 7 resolution and it brought up the window where you can change the refresh rate. It was set at 59 so I changed it to 60 (the only other option) and it black screened (no game running). I then realised that my monitor had a driver so I installed it but even though I could then apply 60hz without a black screen it did not help games.

Oddly if I change it to 60hz when I go back it's gone back to 59hz. I'm pretty much convinced this is an issue pertaining to the refresh rate.

Right now I am upgrading to Windows 10 and will see if that helps any Windows 7 is doing that annoying thing where it won't update any way, so I may as well get 10 whilst I still can

And then today...

Well blow me down with a feather ! I've fixed it.

It seems my presumption about it being refresh rate based were spot on. I wasn't quite sure how to fix it though. This morning after a nice big cup of tea I started to poke around in the Nvidia control panel and found that you can create custom resolutions. I left everything standard for 1440p except I changed the refresh rate to 59hz. Fookin' BINGO.

Never seen anything so odd in all of my years sitting in front of a monitor..
