GTX 770 4GB vs GTX 780 3GB

I am currently building a new rig and I cant decide which Graphics card to choose. So far I am interested in two specific cards, but I am a first time builder and I do not know what will benefit me better. I know for a fact that I want a Nvidia 700 series card, that will run anything on high settings. I only plan on using one monitor and one card do not see myself putting in SLI. Perhaps much more ahead.

The cards are:

-EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB Dual SC w/ ACX Cooler (P/N: 04G-P4-3774-KR)
1111MHz Base Clock
1163MHz Boost Clock
142.2GT/s Texture Fill Rate
4096MB GDDR5 Memory
7010MHz Memory Clock
224.32GB/s Memory Bandwidth

-EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC w/ ACX Cooler (P/N: 03G-P4-2784-KR)
967MHz Base Clock
1020MHz Boost Clock
185.6GT/s Texture Fill Rate
3072MB GDDR5 Memory
6008MHz Memory Clock
288.38GB/s Memory Bandwidth

My parts are:
Intel i5-4670K
Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 mATX
Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB
SeaSonic 660W Platinum

Any help would be appreciated.

The GTX 780 is the more expensive card but it will also last longer and enable you to turn up the settings in your games.

Er not really, both can easily handle max settings...

They're both good cards, it's entirely up to you whether you want to spend the extra money on the 780.

What resolution are you running?

I was just going to hook it up to my TV for a while but I believe the resolution is 1920x1080. I mean I like them both also, but I was curious because one has more memory than the other, has a higher clock so I was confused as to down the line which will be a more "smarter" buy.

If you are going to use it with the TV I would say a 2gb gtx 770 would be more than enough. There is no point in going for the 4gb version for 1080p with a single card as the GTX 770 is not fast enough to use that much vram.

3gb and 4gb cards only get to use the extra vram when used in sli or xfire at high resolutions.

Oh makes sense, thank you very much.
