ok guys dunno if anyone else got this problem but ime having trouble playing any game at all

constantly freezes after playing for 15 mins

now i hear the card doesen't work well with X79 chipset motherboards or PCI 3.0

ime confused and unhappy

anyone who can help me out , don't know what to believe anymore and its doing my head in

Drivers maybe ?? Update...

Also check your pci express power settings in windows controll panell.. Make sure they are not set to downclock.....

Have you run GPUz yet to see what the cards doing with the PCIe lanes? I believe it should be operating at PCIe 2.0 as you're using X79 because NVIDIA don't support 3.0 operation on that chipset.

And also which drivers are you using? 301.xx ? - I had issues with these on my cards and had to downgrade. I was getting kernel panics in some games and whenever I activated nvidia surround.

Also like FTLN says, make sure your PCIe mode is set not to downclock.

Is it everygame or just 1 that this happens on?

Have you MSI Afterburner installed so you can monitor the temp of the graphic's card and also the usuage incase, it's getting to hot and throttling itself back to avoid damage etc.

There is currently a new Beta Driver which I think is 301.24, you could try that if you are running the other driver that was available for it as, has been said above it could be a driver issue.
 
its frozen on BF3 twice and also on world of warcraft

dammm u nvidia not supporting 3.0 for my chipset
 
It should be working fine, but at PCIe 2.0. What card were you using before? Did you uninstall drivers before putting the new card in? What drivers are you using? The ones from the disc (may actually support PCIe 3.0) or drivers from nVidia's website (WHQL or beta?)

That is generally a really handy tip, I had no idea that the power settings could affect GPUs in that way. Thank you.
 
i removed all amd drivers and installed that beta driver from nvidia

ime feeling bummed is the diffrence between 2.0 and 3.0 noticable cause i kinda bought my motherboard partly for the PCI 3.0

ime going to try and hold my breath the card is not faulty

sometimes i think if it was really a good idear switching over from my 7970
 
There's near no difference at all between PCI-E 3.0 and 2.0 in the real world, so if your card turns out to be running at 2.0 don't worry about it, you'll see no loss in performance
 
There is no difference right now between PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 and current cards. You will see virtually the same performance.

Have a spare hard drive around? You could try loading win7 on that and see if you get the crashes still. Some people get weird issues going from AMD to nVidia and vice versa without a clean install.
 
could do a full format since their's barely anything on it

Like others have said you'll not see any difference between PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 the bandwidth of these cards simply isn't high enough to warrant it. Even running a card at PCIe 2.0 x8 and PCIe 3.0 x16 you'd not see a difference. Even in benchmarks. I know that HardOCP and a few other sites have done testing on this and confirmed that there is no difference until you get down to PCIe 2.0 4x and even then the difference was very slight (few FPS).

It sucks you're having issues with your card. I reckon a format will definitely help.

tried evrything still freezing ....

You tried the format and it is still freezing? hmmm I'm thinking perhaps the card is faulty and may need an RMA.
