GTX 660 Ti power edition vs. Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-x

I have been looking around for a good upper-mid range card for a build I will be working on, and had previously settled on the GTX 660 ti Power Edition for its potential as an overclocking card. But, I lately have been considering jumping the nvidia boat and going with a Radeon card. I decided the Vapor-x would be the best buy from the AMD lineup for its good cooler, and very good custom PCB design. I had also been considering the GTX 660 hawk, again for the good OC potential, but they seem to be rather hard to find.

First question: What other cards should I consider? Anything below about 230 pounds, and it needs to be able to overclock comparably to both the PE and Vapor-x cards.

Second question: Are there any issues ATM with the AMD driver efficiency. This was what put me off AMD in the first place, the BF3 performance was far worse than the NVidia cards for some reason. Has this been fixed on both BF3 and other games?

The 7950 is a better card that the 660ti and can be had for cheaper, I think that is your answer right there :) Although with bf3 the 660ti is better

So the new updates with better optimized drivers still have worse performance for the 7950 vs the 660 ti?

I'd go 7950 too. It's overall a better card and if you are overclocking you can also have control of the volts which nvidia have stopped.

what about the 7870 Tahiti even toms reviews say its better than a 7950 and 660ti...

also can be had for £175 its the reason ive chose this card :D

The 7950 is overall a noticeable step ahead of the 660Ti in hardware , the only real edge the 660Ti has is BF3 performance.

I'd probably go AMD myself. They're working hard on reducing frame latencies (I'd hope to see it sorted within 2 driver updates) and it should have the better longevity over the 660Ti.

7870LE is obviously not better than a 7950.

Better than a 660ti? Probably.
