GTX 580 - Performance

Hey all,

Ive just picked up and installed a GTX 580 to replace my 5870 (With which I got fed up of ATI's drivers crashing etc) - with the change all the previous issues are gone - but 3DMark 11 has thrown up a little niggle in the back of my head.

Would you consider this score to be "correct" for a 580 (Asus overclocked edition):

I have just changed over from a ASUS 5870 (3d mark 11 score 4560) to a EVGA GTX580 and got 6122. My rig set up is different I have an I7 920 @4ghz, 6gb 1600Mhz memory, Asus P6TD Deluxe, 1000watt Corsair

I also have the 5870 and have the same problems with the drivers?

How do you find the 580 compared to the 5870?

Cooler at idle, gaming gets better frame rates and seems smoother for sure. I have also bought and fitted evga back plate. I cant believe how warm it gets!! Lucky I have two fans on side of case pointing at it.

Tom's ran these setups with 3D MARK 11 with GPU's stock and OC'd. Tom says the result and uses the ASUS in the SLI video giving the score for the single card too

Scores seem about correct. I think the 1090t is the one keeping the score down, since cpu score is also taken into account.

Clock the CPU and raise the northbridge speed up a little.
