GTX 560 Ti + 485W PSU

I'm wondering if my Enermax Noisetaker 485W would be enough for a single GTX 560 Ti. Now quite sure of Amps on non-12V rails, and I'd rather not have a catastrophic failure.

44amps on ur dual 12v rails leaves 14amps for the rest of ur components.not alot and then ur using 66% (roughly) of the amps for ONE gpu making ur overall load on ur psu well over 75% mark.

this means ur psu will be running full bore WITHOUT overclocking most of the time reducing its efficiency to power stuff PSU's is the #1 spot you dont skimp on when building or upgrading a rig

Thanks. I'll get a Corsair 850W, as suggested by other awesome users on the forums.

Great choice, especially the AX850

It should do it. Quite comfortably too.

I'll do some digging for you.

Edit. OK that's a very old model now. Has a combined rail ampage of 31 amps.

Which, depending on how you have your rails laid out would be enough. However, it's not worth running the risk. Newer 500w model Enermax would do that card all day.

Why is it though that people here all jump in with a 850w £130 power supply? honestly.

Are they taking for granted that every one is like them and would want or need something so excessive? No one is denying that they are sterling units, but not every single person needs one.

The CX600 is more than enough for what you need and, if needs be I can prove it too.

If you have £130 to burn and want to spend it fine. At the same time why not get a 1250w Enermax Revolution for £260?

If you want it fine. If you need it get something you need.

Edit. Given that your PSU was created in 2004 I would say it's given you an amazing run of service. So, if you would like to stay on the same brand..

Will serve you very well so long as you don't plan on going bonkers and adding lots of asses to your swine.

And before any one jumps down my throat take a look over this system here -

Big OC, GTX 570 etc, 550w Antec Basiq PSU.

Pfft, London is very cheap if you know where you're looking.

My dad bought his first PC from there in the 80s or something I think, cost a couple grand, god knows what that's equivalent to today.

Then look elsewhere and find it cheaper I suppose dude.

The point is it's more than enough to run a safe house on. If he wants something uber? then sure, go ahead and get it. But just know that it's pretty much a waste of money.

Hi mate, it depends on the rest of your system, If your on the sandybridge platform then that psu will be fine, I've noticed a 140w difference underload coming from a AMD 1055t @ 3.9ghz, I was using around 450w when gaming, the max i've seen since the upgrade is 305w (280w avg), that's with a stock 2500K and a Gigabyte 5870 Superoverclock.

But if you want to be on the safe side and want more headroom, I would go for a HX750/AX750, that will be more than enough even if you decide to get a second 560 TI.

I'm running a Phenom II X4 955 right now, as well as a Samsung 80GB HDD salvaged from my Dell C521(plz don't laugh), a dinosaur 80GB PATA drive from my cousin's dinosaur 533MHz Intel system(Dell again), and the DVD-ROM drive also from the C521. I also plan to do WC sometime fairly soon, so I don't want to push my PSU too hard (prob XSPC Rasa RX240-CPU only for now). I jumped to an 850W because I much rather not skimp on the PSU. It's the single most important component in a PC. A $200 investment could mean avoiding a $500+ headache later.

Looked it up and my PSU is in danger of doing bad things, like dying. It makes a funny sound and sparks a lil when you put the power cable in. A PSU rated 85+ Gold would be the best bet for me. NCIX was having a sale. AX 850W for the price of an AX750.

Hey I have that PSU and GTX560 I have a mild overclock of 880MHz for a few extra frames. I was playing BadCompany 2 today for less then an hour and my screen went dark and I got VGA not detected on my monitor scared the crap out of me. I have pushed my GPU further before and got more out of it, normally when error does occure screen flickers the clocks reset to defualt 830MHzand everything is fine. I stopped doing this ofcourse and I've not played a single intensive game ever since till now on BC2 (if thats intensive?) and it got that weird thing happening to it? I forced shut down didn't give it any time to try fixing itself wasn't sure if that would make things worse, after reboot everything seemed fine the overclock i had at 880MHz still remained so it didn't reset?! Which was strange after that error? Is my GPU trying to die on me? Or purhaps the PSU is acting up? can you help out?

look plain and simple folks (regardless of Alien/Zombies rants about it) The card recommends a minimu, of 500 watts and 30amp 12v rail. So check properly what else ur running and do some math to make sure ya have the wattage and amps ya need to run ur system. Tiz bro I havent researched the CX series of psu's but in the past CM psus have let me down bigtime. Best recommendation is to get the best psu you can afford from a reputable brand I suggest going min of 750watts but thats me. I like having that extra umph for if and when I need it. Having a psu rated at more than what ya need helps keep system stability in check as power demands are asked for. 99.9% of this forum will tell ya dont skimp on the psu.
