GT650m Overclocking

Hi,

Im getting a laptop with the GT650m GPU and was wondering about the auto overclock and the normal overclocking as I am lead to believe the desktop overclocks the turbo mode, now my question is will the laptop one be the same for example if I overclock with MSI Afterburner will I just increase the turbo clock or raise the base clock?

with something like 650m you dont really need to oc to play most games ultra as long as you have good ram and cpu,

Mobile processors (xPUs) are never identical to their desktop counterparts and are often nothing like them at all, they just fall at similar price/ performance. You'll probably be able to go further on the core as there will probably be less shaders to worry about - what with one becoming unstable out of so many - but be very careful with the VRAM that you don't fry anything, it's not like in a desktop where it has plenty of breathing room. I suggest you upgrade the GPU heatsink/ all in one heatsinks TIM before doing any overclocking.

well on the laptop im getting someone over clocked it to 880Mhz core and 1200Mhz memory an it never went above 65C which i think is very safe.

You should try for Ghz - even if it doesn't work, hey, who cares - it's a bit of fun

Assume 100*c with <80*c being preferred. Can't find any spec sheets.
