high bought a laptop with

I7 1.5GHZ dual core 4 threads

4 GB 1333Mhz ram

and 2GB GT540m

strange thing is my bros desktop has

Phenom x3 2.5GHZ

4GB 1066 ram

GTX 260 216 stream processor edition

but i get better FPS in all games bar crysis 2 which i can just about run in medium to high with 35-40FPS whilst he can run it maxed out in dx9 at 35ish FPS

but in another game Age of Conan i get 40-50 FPS in dx 10 and medium to high in 1366x768 whilst he only gets 30FPS in lowest settings dx 9 and at a resolution of 1280x1024

whats with the hugh FPS differance when the gt540m is meant to be alot slower than the GTX 260?

ive listed the resolution in the first post

Specs wise the 540 is slower than the 260, it has less pipelines (96 to 216) and is really not a gaming card.

Is the difference as significant as it is with age of conan in other games? AoC is a CPU intensive game, not to mention its also poorly coded, but you are correct that the 260 should be faster than a 540m.

Could be completely off base but your i7 could be kicking his phenom's butt, but its only showing it in games where the CPU is heavily featured.

That being said he should be getting better results in AOC. Is he running windows 7? because if he is running vista his ram could be hurting his performance?

I ran a 2.6ghz core 2 quad with a 1gb gt 9800 in aoc and i ran it at high settings with some AA and shadows, with zero issues.
