Hi all,

I recentley bought some Gskill 4800 LA 1GB Kit. I'd Like to know if this is good at overclocking, i'd like at least 300 fsb out of this stuff. I'll be posting results on here as soon as i get my sticks :) (just so it isn't a pointless thread]

Cheers,

GangstaR

LE and LA are different. Luck of the draw, but I think it stands a reasonable chance. LE is G.Skills best.

LA is guarenteed to reach 300 so you will be fine.

If you use, 2.5-4-3-6 you will defo get there... you may even be able to trim those timings :)

Actually the PC4800 FF series is the best as it guarantees 1t timings.

I would choose LE over LA anyday - had mine running at 275 2.5-3-3-6 and at 300 2.5-3-3-7

Cheers

Mav

Yeah I would try and change it for the LE is pos mate.

As Mav said the FF sticks are the ones to have - I think they bundle them with DFI nf4 motherboards though, and they are hard to find, and expensive :p

You get what you pay for and you'll pay a lot in this case - whioch alomost makes you want to buy the OCZ PC5000 instead.

Both nick and I have stated before, RAM is such a unpredictable thing to buy, you buy two sticks at any time and one could overclock beyond 300 easy - the other you may be lucky to get 250.

Good hunting

Depends on your chipset also, as some mobos can't get anywhere near 300FSB...

Just been playing with a fully modded IC7-MAX3 and P4C800-E Deluxe, neither made it to 300FSB 1:1 using the G.Skill PC4800LA TCCD.

I was told that the old 875 chipset doesn't like TCCD or something... who knows!

got the LA today.... :)

Unfortunatley i am stuck at 2T, im planning on buying a dfi ultra-d though... eventually.... (asus a8n sli has a 1T issue)

Heres what i've managed so far :)

ure right stocky it doesent like tccd i also read that matey what cooling are u using on your nb pelts are a good idea if u want extreme clocks ;)

gangstaR thats some good clocking d00d keep it up

Ive got the latest bios, dont really want to trry a BETA, but im going to hold on for a week or so.. if not then i guess i'll just sell up :) and put an order in.

Yeah I couldn't get high 1t on my a8n-sli deluxe with my 2x512 LA. I now have a DFI nf4 sli-dr which won't let me boot with it so that's not any better. OCZ pc5000 coming soon though.

EDIT: The Asus mobo took my LA up to about 330 HTT 2.5-4-4-8 2T though.

I would've got my ultra-d today, but my dad wasnt in! So im going to get it tommorow and build tommorow :D rather spend money on pc stuff than spending £20 out with my mates (so i've got something to look back on to see what ive spent....)

Keeps me entertained anyway :)

You gotta go out sometime wit the mates, or you'll only have ur comp as a friend!

- Couldn't be bothered to pelt the NB, but used that top notch copper swiftech jobby. Using Hynix instead of TCCD can allow 300FSB 1:1, on ye olde 875 chipset.

Dont be silly, course i go out!!!!

:p Im 14 aswell, so its not like i dont see them... (school, 5 days 6 n half hours per day)

But yeh i go out every other weekend, would be going out this weekend but ive got a pc to build

290 is good :) slightly better timings than me, and at a better VDIMM

I`m keeping my memory under wraps, kind of, until I hit a particular personal milestone....waiting on a DDR Booster RMA from OCZ...which with every passing day I dont think i`m gonna get..
