Yeah well last night while I was messing inside if the case and doing some wire tying one of the small round capacitator dealymabobs popped off of my bottom vid card... It was too late last night when this happened to find out if it was repairable, but upon inspection this morning it looks like it should be pretty darn easy to get it fixed up. I kinda wiggled the same one on the top card and that one is super loose too, mefinks it's time evga used a bit more solder on the larger components, they just FALL OFF... bleh.

2 dabs of solder and I should have a working compy again. *crosses fingers*

BAh thats cheap-ass manufactoring there

Fingers crossed Frag :D

Thx kemp... bustin' out the soldering iron as soon as I step through the door from work tonight in hopes that I can get my compy running again. If not it looks like I'll have to RMA it with ZZF which I haven't done before, I can only hope it's as easy as an RMA with n00begg.

Remind me to never again buy eVGA products... I love the price tag on em, but now I can see why the price on eVGA products is where it's at. Low production standards and shit quality control to keep costs down.

Mefinks my next setup will be a couple of BFG 7800GTX OC's :) *not any time soon, not quite ready to drop $1k on vid cards, lol*

Don't worry we will. maybe you should send them a complaint. anyway fingers crossed

Fingers crossed for you mate.

Remember not to leave the soldering iron on the pins for too long as some parts are easily damaged by the heat of a soldering iron.

Got the piece soldered back on and it looks A+... The light on the card now comes on and everything looks to be in order yet when the computer boots I don't get any video output. (Mind you the card that got fucked was the bottom card, the top card is the newest card and runs like a champ). Even if the bottom card were broken I should still get a display from the top card right?

What have yall done when u turn on your comp and you don't get a display... I've tried everything I can think of. Complete power drain, clear CMOS, re-seat the cards, try the secondary DVI port. That's all the stuff I can think of, yet none of it has worked.

Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated as I cant figure out wtf is wrong now. When I power up I get the usual single beep and nothing "seems" to error seeing as how I can't be 100% certain not having a display.

Bah, this is gay, im gonna go build my moms new comp now.

Good idea! :worship: BFG is teh 1337 pwnage :worship: XFX is ok, I love the bars they put on the top of the GPU's

Moms new compy runs sweet for a $550 rig :D It'll hafta suffice for me until I figure out wtf is wrong my with comp.

i got a evga 6800 softmodded to GT and overclocked to hell and it runs nice. BFG aint the best cards either a friend had 2 die and then a custmer at his pc shop brought another in so 3 bfg 6800 ultras died. So just luck of draw i guess some bad batches of cards sometimes by all companys.

No, but they could have already been dead. But you wouldn't just have to be unlucky. You would have to be insanely unlucky. So yes sounds very much like user error there Bal3Wolf..

lol its kinda hard to mess up a agp install install it hook up power and your done card works for days or weeks then toast cant be user error.

Comp is fixed! I suppose it just needed time to sit and think about the way it was treating me ;) Actually I didn't do anything but plug everything back in today and give it another shot just for shits and giggles... And much to my dismay it worked!

That means my soldering job worked :D

This was a fairly easy solder job but I do say my thanks to 10+ years in the paintball industry and the majority of that working on custom electro marker boards which I had to do a lot of custom soldering on.
