Grid falling over

As it's one of the big bench tests OC3D use, I thought I'd see if anyone actually plays it.

If you do, does anyone else have issues with most of the US tracks suddenly dropping down to single figure FPS then the whole game falls over?

My creaky old rig can get 60fps on every track, but the moment I go to Washington GP, San Fran Street, hell even Milano long the frame-rate goes 50,40,30,20,12, desktop. Or worse still 12,12,12 "and now I corrupt your savegame".

Didn't know if it's just me, or my hardware, or Codemasters being the worlds most ironic company name (and it is btw).

Damn you're both Nvidia. It's the only game that has ATI driver issues I've found :(

Oh well. Luckily I'm a god at drifting so I'll have to stick with that.

Many thanks both. Any ATI guys not having issues?

Burnout is coming for the PC really soon. Next friday according to the websites.

I disliked it at first, thought it was a cross between Burnout 4 and Test Drive Unlimited.

Whereas actually it's really good. Highly recommended.

damn, just checked on my sys and i'm having a similar prob

if i try to run some of the races the game will just crash as it loads the track

i tried with a new profile and that just made the game crash after the first career race every time :(

perhaps it is the 9.1 drivers, because i know i've had this game running on this card before...

what are your PC specs VonBlade ?

[edit]

nevermind, it's working now, lol

i had to enable the hardware accelerated sound in the game options *shrug*

running really well at 2560x1600 8xAA and everything maxxed.

now i know it's working, i might try some mods

This is ridiculous. I've just tried it under Win7 and it's fine.

Hmmm. Might have to dig Driver Cleaner out.

Ok. Reinstalled DX, uninstalled, driver cleaned and all that jazz, then with all the right reboots put the latest cats on.

Still falling over.

I got similar problem since I update to 9.1 driver ( I run on 4870 X2), never crash before with 8.12 driver...hmmmm
