Graphics Card not being picked up

Hi guys,
I built my PC yesterday, and after installing windows and programs such as hwcompare, msi afterburner etc my graphics card is failing to be acknowledged. I am using an msi gtx 970 4G which was taken out of my old computer where it worked fine. The specs of my new PC are:
Asus Maximus Ranger VII,
Fractal r5,
850 evo 500gb,
16gb hyper x fury 1866 mhz ram,
nh d15,
i7 4790k

MSI afterburner doesn't even pick up the graphics card at all, neither does hwcompare, despite the fans spinning and the light shining physically inside my case

Does anybody know what might be wrong and suggest potential fixes please?

Have you done a clear installation of the drivers for the card?

I haven't installed the cd disk that came with the card, good idea That might've helped!

Ahaha it did work, thanks very much (*facepalm*). I'm such an idiot for not installing drivers

And now you need to uninstall the ones on the disk and get the latest ones from nvidias website
