Graphics Card Advice for an upgrade!

I Have a MSI Nvidia Ti4600 128mb AGP. I have been happy with this for a while and I am currently trying to breath life into my old PC, so I have upgraded the processor chip and the memory and now its time for a new graphics card. I purchased a XFX Geforce 6200 512mb and its performance is shocking! Its worse than the 4600ti I have. I have reverted back to that for now! Can anyone give me advise as to what to buy! I have a 2.8 p4, 2GB of ram and an ABIT BD711 Mobo. I want a card that will outperform my 4600ti. I only have an old AGP 4x slot and a 300w power supply! And I dont want to change my power supply. What should i get??????

If its compatible with your board, why not take a look at the x1650pro. Its under £30 and a great little card. I used to have one with a Sempron CPU and 2GB DDR1 RAM and it would run Bioshock at a playable level.

Im wondering if the poor performance of your new gpu is down to your power supply , can you list the specs or at least the model and make so it can be looked into :)

Also there could be an issue with the chipset on that board with newer cards if i remember rightly but ill have to look into it , my memory is shocking nowadays ;)

Nah, the 6200s are utter BS. :(

I'd be looking at a new rig if I were you. I recently switched from a 3.2ghz p4, 2gb or RAM and an X800XT-PE and its so much better. Albeit my set-up cost £1000 but thats only because I splashed out a bit on the GPU, RAM, Vista, etc.

You could easily get a huge improvement on your current system for a relatively small amount.

If not, then go with one of the ATI cards, they perform very well.
