GPU upgrade

Hi guys I'm looking to buy a gpu and I cant decide which gpu will give me the best performance for my budget.

My budget is £270.

Games I play battlefield 4,Crysis 3 and call of duty.

Been looking to upgrade my gpu for a while now btw I have a gtx 560ti.

for that price range you should go for either a r9 280x or a gtx 770.

both are similarly performing, the amd card is cheaper but the nvidia card as far as i'm aware still has an epic game bundle with it (Assassin's Creed 4, Batman Origins and splinter cell)

Thats pretty much the best advise youll get matey

Some 280xs come with Battlefield 4. Its kind of weird how Nvidia now do free games deals but AMD mostly don't.

Thanks for the response m8.

alright so you wont get better performance with the r9 280x since it has 3gb vram ? i usually play at 1920 by 1080.

depends on the game as to which 'card is (very slightly) better. You can get some 280x that overclock to just under 780 level and I'm sure it is the same with the 770.

the extra vram doesn't help performance any, it simply provides a larger buffer for textures etc.

nothing much really uses more than 2gb of vram, especially at 1080p. but in the future additional vram as the games develop to make more use of it.

Alright thanks guys i think im gunna go with amd but its a shame they dont have a game bundle.

If you go with XFX (not recommended but I've heard good things about their new coolers) you can get Battlefield 4. I'd wait until after Christmas as I'm pretty sure AMD will do a new bundle.

i know the previous gen coolers on the HD 7*** series they were very loud, didn't cool to well in comparison to the other coolers as much as they were VERY slightly cheaper and in this case have better bundles I think its worth getting an MSI card i know the previous gen coolers were fantastic! I personally would go with the AMD cards due to the price to performance being so much better!

AMD do not offer game bundles because they are still trying to get rid of stock of the 7xxx series

280x is quite a bit faster than a 770 and cheaper. It is a no brainer tbh.
