Ok im doing my first PC Build, slowly getting the parts together.

NZXT Phantom White - Case

Intel i7 2600k - CPU

Gigabyte UD4 - Mobo

Im trying to choose a mid-range GPU, any advice if i were to spend between 250-400$, bare in mind im Australian and use http://www.techbuy.com.au

Gaming performance is a must.

Thanks in advance guys.

+1 GTX560Ti (Gainward)

get the gold sample edition, not the phantom edition

faster and cheaper

I don't know where Australians shop, but a Gigabyte SOC Gtx 560s will give you 570 ish performance for a bill cheaper.

Honestly i do not mind paying a little extra.

But for the extra money, id want to see a large benefit over a cheaper card.

GPU's im clueless about..

Just google gtx 560 review and read a few, they usualy have a 570 in the comparison tables so you can gage if the extra performance is worth the extra cost to you.

This is easily the best card you can get in the price range and you've still got some money left over.

If you can though it is worth stepping up to the 570 if you can get a few extra dollars.

Hmm............... Tech Buy... I'd rather not.

Take a look at PC Case Gear for a good range and decent prices, same card as linked above at PCCG. And I'm not sure why Tech Buy has spec numbers from the OC-ed referenced cooler 570, as the Twin Frozer II card with is not speced as stated from MSi.

570 or 560? The 560 is potent bang for buck, the 570 performs better at a cost.

Apparently the difference between the 2600K and the 2500K isn't even noticeable in games:

So I'd use the money saved from going for the 2500K to buy either a MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr now so you could maybe add a second later or if you want the best performance you can now then two GTX 460 or two 6850's.

remember guys - he is in australia

he does not want to pay insane extras for shipping from US (UK or elsewhere)

i went to the site he posted, and chose what i thought was the best they had to offer

Money is not an issue, but yes my original plan was to shop from either tiger or newegg but the shipping costs ere ridiculous, not to mention my parts would arrive a month later.

I chose the 2600k because i enjoy my photo editing as much as my gaming so i felt the i7 future proofed my rig a little better than the i5 could.

I've been leaning to the GTX 570, any advice which brand?

sapphire are good, but if really want a great card the msi GTX 570Ti twin frozr III are going to be the ones to beat IMHO

Hey, I'm currently building a new gaming rig as well, AND I'm from AUS. I've done a fair bit of research, but like most these guys are saying, go for the 570. Here's a nice little reference site: GPU Benchmarks and then there is this one which is a direct comparison of FPS between the 560 and 570

But honestly, as a lot of people are saying, the best coolers are definitely the MSI or Gigabyte, but I preferably go with ASUS because I prefer the look

Here's the MSI 570. Or if you really wanted you could probably drop the Sandy Bridge all together and go for a AMD Phenom 1090T, that's hex core and while it may not perform as amazing as the 2600k in games, you could always SLI some 560s or even 570s. I think the price difference is around 150-200?
