GPU question

Hey guys,

So a dumb question again, which one is basically most optimal and ”best” overall?:

Titan Xp or EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 in the tiny Dan Case A4 SFX case?

Now the latter does fit, just wondering regarding which would be most suitable, in terms of temps, noise etc. Just how good or bad is the Titan Xp’s cooler really?...

I’m just wondering if I should maybe go for an Titan Xp, since basically everyone recommend a blower style/reference cooler in such a compact case. Yet they have been known to be a jet engine in the past. Have they been improved any during the years?.

Thanks,
Dawelio

Xp is fine at stock but it will be limited in boost. So the 1080Ti is probably going to be quicker.

Could you at least put the dumb question in the thread title for these? Makes filtering them much easier than yet another generic chrazey "[insert topic here] question" thread.

How so?...

Air cooled Titan Xp cards are noticeably faster than air cooled 1080 Ti cards when benched.

The Titan Xp is also a better overclocker as it starts from a lower base and has better memory chips than most 1080 Ti cards.

The most comical part is the SW Titan Xp at £999 is actually cheaper than a lot of the high end 1080 Ti cards.

I never thought I could post one day that the NVidia Titan brand is the value for money option lol.:)

On the FE cooler I could get to about 1780, then it would get noisy and start throttling. On water? yeah, 2088 all day long. However, the FTW3 has a massive cooler and thus I reckon it should boost much higher. Just an opinion of course, I've never put it to the test.

Wish it was like that here. The SW Xp cards are more expensive:(
Not to mention no longer for sale

Use a custom fan profile.:)

Having used a pair of Asus Matrix 7970 cards in a case with average air flow it is something I would never do again. Non reference AIB cards are ok but only if you have really good airflow, otherwise they are a liability.

They are still selling but don't stay in stock for very long, Dicehunter managed to get one recently for example.

As to pricing the SW Titan Xp is £999.00

Compare that to some of these prices lol.

EVGAs Kingpin cards are even more expensive and as for the Kudan 1080 Ti what a joke.

So correct me if I'm wrong here Kaap... A Titan Xp is actually better than the 1080 Ti FTW3 in a case such as the Dan Case A4 SFX (and NCASE M1)? Whereas, according to your reply above, the FTW3 might actually be a liability in such a small and compact case?:

I would only use a Titan Xp in those cases, this is what cards with reference coolers are designed to deal with.
