GPU Advice Needed

Hi Peeps,

Need a little advice. Basically, my MSI R6970 Lightning has decided to bit the dust and is overheating into the 110C range even on non demanding games. Since MSI are a pretty cool company, they are going to exchange the card for another as they don't have any replacement R6970's.
Being out of touch with GPU tech recently, I don't know what to accept in exchange!
I know for certain that it needs to be a AMD card (for AMD HD3D) and have a Dual Link DVI for my 3D monitor with a HDMI for my TV connection, but I don't want to end up not being able to play the games I play now on ultra settings.

Anybody got any tips?

Thanks.

7950 is a solid card and better value for money than 7950. But if you have the money get the 7970 if you want AMD. However most people say, that have used 3d solutions, say that Nvidia 3d is better and easier to setup and more monitors support it. So yeah I would go Nvidia for 3d but need to know what your prices range is for upgrade to recommend nvidia card

Considering the 7970 replaced the 6970 they should replace it for the appropriate next step up; which would be the 7970. If not then accept nothing lower than a 7950.
